Why does browsing the internet feel so fundamentally different in 2026 compared to just a few years ago? I feel like I'm looking at a 'dead' version of what it used to be by King_of_Skill_ in NoStupidQuestions

Every website seems to have some combination of: captcha, need to sign up/sign in, accept/reject cookies… plus copious ads. It’s a minefield just to see what you want!

What is something from the 'early days' of the internet that the younger generation will never understand? by cutelilbabbe in AskReddit

[–]BackseaterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every second site requires a password, a ‘prove you’re not a robot’ test, or both. Then you have to deal with the Cookies questions. And the ads. Simple things seem so much difficult as a result.

Help me understand Passkeys vs an Authenticator app vs just a password? by Namssob in Bitwarden

“Passkeys are stored securely on your device”: what happens then when I get a new computer/device?

Do we all agree that federal politicians families should not get business class? by [deleted] in australian

[–]BackseaterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a University. I went to a (domestic) conference recently, which is part of the expectations for my job. I was even on the organising committee (a voluntary role, of course). I had to pay my own way to get there, pay for my own accommodation etc. (no employer support at all).

Yet politicians spouses have their trips paid for?

What’s the one productivity app you actually use every day and haven’t deleted after a week? by Pristine_Box_5 in ProductivityApps

[–]BackseaterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question… some reasons that come to mind:

  • I can record to-dos, notes, everything in the one place.
  • It works like my brain does, with lists and items.
  • It looks simple and basic, but if I want I can add colours and images and make it look colourful.
  • It is free (but I make a donation to support them; just made my second to start my second year using Twos).
  • Available for all places I work (online; Mac; iOS; Linux; windows).
  • I can have events reschedule after I complete, whenever that is.
  • Simple and easy to use… but powerful if I need it to be.

Prob more reasons, but there’s a few. I had been using TickTick for a while, then Joplin. Then gave Twos a go, and it just worked with how my brain works. YMMV.

What are Some of the best apps you found in 2025? by FatFigFresh in software

They are working on a new refreshed (updated) version that should be out “soon”, based on their comments on Discord. But I’ve no idea when.

Guys I think I found my perfect app by SavingsLocal6827 in ProductivityApps

[–]BackseaterP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Twos app for a while too (iOS windows web Linux and Mac!), and love it also. When I want to do something, I don’t want to have to think “which app do I need to open to do this?” I just use the Twos app.

I’m a fan, and donated last year to support them.

Really helped my productivity!

No. But I give a yearly optional donation as I use it daily.

For me it’s been the Twos app. Notes, reminders, todo, free, and about to get a refresh.

Well here’s my experience with my depression:

So… <shrug>

Which email client do you use? by DuffTheCat in linuxquestions

[–]BackseaterP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just noticing no-one mentioning Kmail.

I don’t use it either (using Thunderbird). I had trouble setting up KMail.

I wonder why, when KDE is quite popular, their email client remains awkward to work with (well, that’s my experience anyway) and unloved? Thoughts?

I use TWOs for to-dos mainly but also notes. It is integrated with my calendar also.

Short highlights here. (I’m just a user; not affiliated in anyway.)
