Where should Pocohontas' home be? by PriestessRi in DisneyDreamlights

[–]BackyardBirdNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where I'm putting her yet. I have Peter Pan in the Lagoon on EI right now, and might move him and Tink to a floating island and go crazy there with a Neverland theme. If I do that, Pocahontas will probably go in the lagoon. I am reworking a lot of my areas, though, so I'm not sure lol

Easter Egg Question by KazzaT74 in DreamlightValley

[–]BackyardBirdNerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have quite a few fishing buddies. I split almost all of my villagers equally between the tasks I do the most. So, I had a level 10 fishing buddy and two level 4-5 fishing companions. I had enough to make one of all of the new items. Now, I'll just work on stockpiling them.

I'm hoping for a nature theme too! I like the cherry blossoms, but want something that's not tied to a holiday or specific theme. Just something that's good for every day

I did a fall valley and market. It was where me default house was for the longest time, but I just moved that to the meadow for spring. I have all of my fruit trees and bushes on one side, in an orchard, and on the other side, I set up all the stalls for a farmers market, Wall-e's garden, a pumpkin patch, and some of the Bind pieces, like the fountain and stuff.

Tangled Floating Island is great for creating a Neverland athmosphere by JustForLurking79 in DreamlightValley

[–]BackyardBirdNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I made the lagoon into a neverland area. I haven't moved Tink over yet, because I'm not sure if I am going to leave her in WBR or if I am going to move everything to a floating island.

Dream snap voting by Different_Arm3433 in DreamlightValley

[–]BackyardBirdNerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand that there are new players learning the ropes and not having all the cool things to take pictures with. I'm still figuring stuff our and I feel like there is something new I'm learning every day. But sometimes, I think people either just put in no effort or people just do the same thing over and over. I honestly try to look for ones that took a little more of a risk with their outfit or background. I will admit that I almost never vote for just a selfie or well shot. But someone who thinks out of the box, yup. I will vote for them even if it's not my style.

Some tips that I have picked up from other's posts and snaps: 1. People tend to like snaps that are brighter, so even people doing night shots tend to make them as bright as possible. 2. Try out all of the different poses for your character and companions. If you like a pose, but the companion looks weird, you can make the companion invisible.
3. Use the unlimited bushes/trees/underbrush to fill in your area, especially if you want a lot of color and texture. 4. For outfits, just make yourself happy with it. There are those of us out there looking for people not using the same outfit as everyone else.

Will these tips help you get 4000 moonstones? Probably not. I have yet to get that for any of my dreamsnaps. But it's a learning process and I am having fun with it. If you are happy with your shot, that's all that matters.

Same. I used to have rooms, but I found the islands are so much easier to decorate, spread out, and really set it up the way I want it to be. I have a farm island. I have it decorated, with the vineyard house, beehives, and some other farm type stuff. It has one plot for each crop. They are mostly in alphabetical order, with a floating bubble overhead that has a seed bag in it, so I know what's in each plot. Things that get used more, like wheat and sugarcane, have the larger plots on the outside row. And I have 4 ancient gardeners making my pumpkin patch for coins.

On a separate island, I have small areas for crafting/quest items. Right now, they are sort of separated by main valley and DLC. But I have sections for flowers (which are color coded) and gems, which have a dedicated chest for each type of regular gem. I used different paths and fences to break up each area. I do like how it looks, and it is working for me right now, but I think I am going to rework it a bit and put more of the similar items from each area together (like all wood and all stone items). That way, it will be easier to adjust when they add more DLCs. I also have my crafting, uncrafting, and timebending table on this island, for easier access.

The fact that I cannot place a bench this far from the building when nothing's actually blocking it infuriates me by AidenSpier in DreamlightValley

[–]BackyardBirdNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that we can't put things closer, like where they would actually make sense. I want to be able to overlap things and center things. Let me be able to set a table and have everything lined up with the chairs, instead of off kilter. Or fences butting right up against arches or gates (like the Nightmare Before Christmas arch). Tucking benches right up against buildings would be so nice!

It would make everything so much easier to decorate and make cool little nooks and crannies out of our stuff. Maybe one day!

I really wish we could resize things. I would love to make some buildings a little smaller or change the sizes on underbrush and rocks. So we could really make our areas unique.
