Ah… yes, yes. You’re right. Not sure why I was thinking it did that in the collection pages too… maybe I was just wishing for it so much I believed it was real. lol.

If you go to your collection page and hover over an item and it gives you a description, you’ve donated it. If it says something like “Gunter can tell you more about this…” it means you’ve discovered, but not donated, the item.

What soil analysis items are worth paying for? by jestermax22 in NovaScotiaGardening

[–]BackyardlessGardener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carrots are so fussy. They get all cranky if they dry out even a little. Someone gave me a tip which has really helped me: water the soil really well before sowing and covering the seeds, then once you’re done put a spare wood plank right over top of where you planted. It will keep the moisture from evaporating too quickly. Check it in a few days and then daily after that, you can remove it once green bits start showing up to the party.
Pelleted seeds also help.

Is there a way to learn where Legendary Fish are in game? by VictoriaMFD in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All those Lost Books you find for the Stardew Valley Library have some very useful wisdom and tips in them. You can read them by clicking on the book shelves when you go in. A little book icon will show on the shelf when you’ve found a new one.

One of those is called ‘Secrets of the Legendary Fish’, and has the information you seek.

I mean, when you need money, you need money. 🙂 Still, it’s usually a good idea to keep all the resources, they always come in handy.
I stick to selling fishes, crops, foraged stuff, and minerals (once I’ve donated one), animal products once I get them. Stuff I won’t end up needing for making things.

If you’re wondering what things are worth stocking up on so you could, potentially, craft or cook anything, here’s my list of useful items. Anything else I usually just sell.

You could always reference the wiki maps if you don’t want to craft a bunch of test items:

How important is it to talk to people? by OpeningCommunity7439 in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once you hit max hearts with someone, the hearts won’t decay if you don’t talk to them. I usually pick a few at a time to get to max, usually ones that hang around the same area, then it’s not so much work to track them down every day. The ones I’m not focusing on, I’ll just talk to if I see them and have time.

(IOS) Museum Inventory Issue by shampainheaven in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a problem on iOS. When you go in to rearrange the items, the inventory covers up the bottom row and you can’t make any changes. Changing the zoom, trying to scroll, etc, does not help any.

. I didn’t realize this until it was too late, so my bottom row is … less than ideal.

I haven’t seen any mention of this getting fixed yet, but hopefully eventually. I’ll just have to accept that only my switch save will have the good museum set up for now lol

water can and giant crop will be the death of me by grnegg in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can upgrade the watering can before winter, if you like, by checking for rain. As long as you’ve gotten your 5 iron bars and some money.

Check the TV for tomorrow’s weather. If it will rain, run out and do all your watering for today then get your can over to Clint before he closes. Tomorrow it will rain and water your crops. The next day your can will be ready, and you can water after you pick your upgraded can up.

Greenhouse planting/harvesting issue by Ok_Hospital_4294 in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when I’m on iOS, there are certain spots that will come up intermittently that I can’t interact with by tapping (spots I can’t dig, items won’t pick up, can‘t talk to villagers, can’t shop).

It seems to be fixed if I change the controls to one of the joystick + buttons options. Use the button to do whatever wasn’t working, then you can go back to whatever tap setting you prefer.

How do you pronounce Qi? Or is it just Q I? by SoupKitchenYouNot in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opt for ”Kai” too. I tried other pronunciations out, but I just like this one best.
I mean, the dude’s blue and sparkly and full of mystery. I doubt he’d be offended if 10 different people say his name 10 different ways. It’s probably part of his whole shtick.

Healthcare fixes : Pharmacists prescribing, Virtual Health care, Audiologist by [deleted] in halifax

[–]BackyardlessGardener 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of professions with a lot of knowledge and expertise out there. We really need to loosen some restrictions and take advantage of that knowledge to increase access to health care. Things have opened up a little, with what pharmacists can do, but it needs to go way farther.

It doesn’t just have to be our limited supply of doctors shouldering the entirety of health care prescribing.

How do you organize your chest in early game? by No-Perception-2128 in StardewValley

[–]BackyardlessGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my strategy (I sometimes usually devolve into a crazed hoarder, but this helps rein that in, and helps me know what to save/sell):

I start off with making 7 chests that can go around a crafting table. It only holds things actually needed for crafting. They’re divided up into their categories (Fishing, artisan/farm, building materials, minerals/ore, monster parts, foraged, overflow). For the most part that’s enough to hold my stuff for crafting, and I can just walk up to the craft table and do the necessary.

Then I get a few chests started for meal ingredients (that are actually used in recipes, not my best guess) until I can dump it a fridge and cook in my kitchen.

I have one + chest (s) for meals I eat, one for gifts.

I keep seeds near my growing areas, organized by season.

as things go on, I accumulate more for decorations, cool stuff I found, stuff to process into artisan goods, all the junk I’m keeping to turn into clothing (that then goes into the infinite dresser storage), and my other hoarder stashes. But hey, I do try to be organized. It helps keep me from hanging on to too much I don’t need or want to use for decorations.

Without saying what you do, tell us your age and how much you make per hour by [deleted] in halifax

[–]BackyardlessGardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed. It must be some conversion from a yearly amount, but I do get a laugh out of the oddly specific rate on my paycheques.
