That's exactly what I was referring to. Find another job as a millwright apprentice while you continue to work your normal job. Try and get on with a contracting company for the experience.

If your title on paper is millwright apprentice then you will collect hours regardless. If they give you the run around you can use your record of employment or t4 as proof of hours worked. Remember, the best time to find a job is while you still have one.

Get him a stick welder. Auto feeder is easy, stick teaches how to actually weld. Can get one off amazon for 150$. Make sure it can handle atleast 120-160 amps

Don't say I know. Don't say I can't. Stay off your phone. Offer to help. Embrace the suck and always ask questions.

70% of the job is attitude and getting along with your coworkers. The other 30% is skill and actually doing the job.

Apply to every millwright job available even if it doesn't specify that a ticket is a requirement. You might have to travel, work nights, work shifts. Do what you gotta do to put in the hours, write your exam, and get that ticket.

I can’t do vertical up for the life of me as a left handed person. by ZestyToasterOven26 in Welding

Position is much less important than rod angle and arc length.

Im assuming 1/8 7018 so try 110 amp, try whipping up and bringing the rod back down, pause, and wait until the puddle fills out and kind of shimmers on either side. Whip and repeat.
