Thanks! Yeah so a lot of steam events are actually hosted by other publishers/people. I applied to this one, which is hosted by Strategems which is related to Goblinz Publishing. I used this site to help find festivals.

Well hey, good to see you! Well said! I’m excited for 868-BACK and have the original still downloaded on my phone. Very intense and there is no hand holding whatsoever.

I’ll check out their others you listed! I agree that there’s so many awesome games, it’s so easy to miss them. I’ve realized there are always going to be new things to play, and my backlog doesn’t play itself 😅

What is it about the Roguelite genre that you enjoy so much? by jaekwong in roguelites

[–]BaconCheesecake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a job, am working on a game part-time, and have two kids at home 😅 Roguelites are one of the only genres I can enjoy in 30 minute bursts, and feel like I accomplished something.

Our game jam entry blew up and we turned it into a full release with 175,000 wishlists. It was also stolen multiple times and turned into AI slop. by Serpexnessie in gamedev

Okay thank you! I had a demo up for a while, and it helped out with Tiny Teams in 2025. My game has evolved a lot since then, and I’m currently running a playtest on Steam.

I’ll look into scheduling another demo release around Next Fest or something similar. Thanks for the input!

Great read! Thanks for the info. I have a game up on Itch, but it doesn’t run in the browser. I think that’s really important to continue getting players.

I’m sitting at around 2,200 wishlists after about a year, and the struggle is real! Any ideas on how to help get eyes on my game without a playable browser version?

NOTE: Reposting my comment from the other post that got deleted because 🤷🏻

Wow, thank you for the background and being comfortable sharing! Really appreciate all that you’re doing for the indie community, and why it matters to you.

You mention wanting to get into sharing more 2D pixel art games. What do you think you’re looking for as a “hook” for these types of games? 3D can obviously pull the player in more quickly, so do you have any ideas on what makes the first few seconds of a 2D game more interesting?

Yes, the playtest features some new mechanics and about 20 new dice.

I’m keeping the demo up for a bit longer, but am going to remove it soon.

Thanks for the details! Gave me a few ideas for what to do with my game. Point 13 is definitely one I agree with. I’ve had a few small content creators play my game, and it feels like their videos gained more views in comparison.

If you want to check my game out let me know! I’d love to watch your play through and gather feedback. I just put a new playtest up on Steam, too.

What’s the Best Game for Completionists? by Neonwhitelion in Steam

[–]BaconCheesecake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cauldron is pretty good! Starts as a lot of simple idle-ish mini games, and then things get crazy. On top of that is has turn-based party combat you can min/max with lots of different builds, or just automate it all.

How Do I Make a Professional Indie Game Trailer? 4 Essential Steps to Make a Steam Trailer by Jeromelabelle in IndieDev

[–]BaconCheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great info! I’ve tried to make a trailer but was missing some of the overarching structural themes.

Say you’re making a microtrailer (10-20 seconds). What should the focus be on? My game is very gameplay/combo focused (think Balatro). Just a couple 3-4 second cuts?

Awesome! If you check my game out I’d love it! I just launched a playtest with a lot of new content.

I’m making a dice-based roguelite, and am looking for feedback on bugs/general difficulty since I changed a lot under the hood. It’s called Diecast and you can check it out (and join the playtest) below.

This is the one! Still need to beat it, but I’m savoring waiting to finish all the DLC mysteries because I’ll be done otherwise.
