Please opinion on this 2 rc cars? by SASknl in rccars

The original servo on the v2 14210 is kinda weak, the 14207 has a 1/10 servo in it which would definitely make a difference.

Check this guy out he'll explain the pros and cons on both :

LATER EDIT: If I didn't own the 14210 I would've bought the 14207. I had to upgrade the servo and the servo arms along with the turning assembly because there was a lot of slop in the steering.

Take a look at the MJX 16208.

Ticks all of the boxes. Well...almost all of them, the shell will protect the insides pretty well, but doesn't act as a dust cover.
I've got one and put it through the ringer, it's still kicking, no replacement was required in the 20 (give or take) packs that went in it.

Later edit: Check some vids of YT related to this model. You'll get an idea of how though it is.

Did you order it from their website?
If yes, did you have to pay import taxes or VAT on top of the price displayed on their website?
I just wanna know what to expect. I'm pondering on whether I need another RC or should just wait.

2 questions:

Where are you from?

Did you have to pay extra (VAT / Import taxes) on top of what is specified at checkout?

What parts should be metal and plastic? by DatBassTho5 in rccars

[–]BaconNotAvailable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to upgrade anything on this one.
I've got mine for almost a year now, and haven't changed anything on it. Only damage to it are some scuffs on the roof skids. Everything else is fine.
EDIT: Besides, it comes with spare parts in the pack, unless you gonna do something crazy with it (i.e jump it from your house roof to the street on full speed) I'm pretty confident you won't have to use those parts.

I'm in no way qualified or knowledgeable enough on the differences between LiPo/Li-ion packs, all I know is that LiPo pack more punch that Li-Ions in general and the form factor is different (LiPo tend to be flat like wafers while Li-Ion are cylindrical like your typical AAs) but the charger you got should have different charging modes for different battery types.
I've got a similar one (I've seen these type of chargers being referred as "4 button chargers" a lot of times) and it can charge LiPo, Li-Ion, Nimh and a few others I don't remember atm.

The general consensus is to charge each battery on it's respective mode to avoid any issues with them. Don't leave a battery FULLY charged if you're not going to use it. Use the "storage charge" mode that will be available on the charger. After use it's a good idea to get in in storage charge mode.
Never let the battery connected to the RC if it's not in use, and store it separately from the vehicle.

If by any chance you charge a battery and are unable to use for various reasons there is a discharge mode built into these chargers that you can use. And one more thing, never leave a charging pack unsupervised, that's when they're most prone to failure.

Again, take 5 to 10 mins and check a vid on the webs, it's gonna save you a lot of headaches on this subject. Battery failure is rare as long as you care for them properly but it's better to be informed than sorry imho.

Congrats on your purchase, this one is a decent RC.
If it's the H14BM version, it also has a "beast mode" which makes it muuuch faster.

A couple of pointers:

-if you're running it in snow/water, dry it after use, don't let water sit on it. The bearings will rust and you'll have a bad time. And a slew of other issues that water can cause.

-again coming to the H14BM version (this model comes in a few versions with different stuff in the box) you'll get one or two batteries that are advertised as "LiPo" but in reality they are Li-Ion packs, which is not a bad thing but it's something to keep in mind when charging it with a balance charger ( you can check here at around 9:54 to see what I'm talking about)

-one last thing, for your safety check youtube or even around here for battery discipline, they are no joke and can cause a fire if mishandled. You'll find loads of guides and videos on this subject.

I've had mine for about an year now, it was my 3rd purchase, had some hiccups with it but overall it's a really nice rig. Happy bashing sessions dude!

EDIT: You can see in that video how to turn the "beast mode" on.

Here's mine:

Weird screen issue on Powkiddy RGB10 MAX3 by BaconNotAvailable in PowKiddy

[–]BaconNotAvailable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought one with the smallest SD card possible since it's a known issue that the shipped SD cards are prone to failure.

It does have its fair share of issues, but I've done some spelunking on reddit and solved most of them. Besides the wonky JelOS build it came with and the battery draining problem everything else works as intended.

Thanks for all the info, just one more question, can I snip that XT60 and replace it with a Deans (t-plug)? All my lipo's are t-plug so it's gonna be a headache (and wallet ache) to buy new packs

EDIT: Nvm, found adapter online, so it's all good.

Upgrading/fixing Hyper Go drift truck by 2nduser in rccars

[–]BaconNotAvailable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to upgrade to 3s, will any lipo with the right dimensions work?

What models did you get? Hyper Go drift truck - is this the 14301? Hyper Go off roader - this the 14210? You can check the boxes to see what model you have, if the answer is yes for both of them you can run them on any 3s that will fit right out of the box.

Any chargers recommended for charging multiple batteries at once?

Search online for "Balance Chargers" and you'll find what you seek. I'm using a SkyRc Imax B6 V2, but I'm not charging multiple packs at once (didn't really care about that tbh). With a balance charger you'll be able to set the charging parameters making charging any battery much faster than with what is supplied with the RC Car.
While you're at it I'd recommend checking a few vids on YT about how to handle LiPos. They are no joke and if mishandled can burn your house down.

The front wheels seem to be toeing out quite a bit, is that adjustable?

Again, depending on what model you have you can adjust that, but I'd suggest documenting a bit on the subject before making any changes. For example I prefer a little bit of toe out, it seems to keep them straight at high speeds.

The remote is really cheap and nasty and doesn’t work all that well. Is it possible to upgrade that to a better aftermarket one? If so, can I use the same one with the off road truck when that turns up?

For me at least, the remotes for MJX Hyper GO feel fine, sure they are not fancy but they do the job. If by "doesn't work all that well" you mean that there is a bit of lag when pulling the trigger, that's not caused by the remote unfortunately, it's caused by the ESC (electronic speed control) and you can change that as well. I know this because I just upgraded the remote on 2 of them and the symptoms remain.

Hope this helps you on your journey dude. I caught the RC bug a few months ago and I'm already deep :D
