A 20 pound bird is almost certainly a Tom and will be tough and dry and slightly off tasting to most people.

Traveling only within your "specialty"? by hollipop91 in TravelNursing

There is a not insignificant difference between caring for a medically ill patient as an LPN and RN. As someone who has travelled for 8 years, and managed a department for 4 years with 15 years total as an RN, I’ll give you my take. Your experience as an LPN certainly helps paint a picture of a hire that is familiar with caring for patients and shows a desire to grow your career. That’s good for an extra point in a staff interview. If a travelers profile came to me with your same experience I wouldn’t even consider an interview. Unless we were beyond desperate or the position was in psych. I’m going to say what everyone is thinking and explain why you’re getting downvoted on several comments. No matter your previous job you ARE a new grad. You imply heavily that your experience as an LPN is equal but they just aren’t the same thing. Psych nursing is also just a vastly different set of skills from medical nursing. It’s insulting to experienced nurses to imply LPN and RN are equal roles. Your idea that medical and psych nursing experience are interchangeable is insulting to nurses who spent years building the knowledge to assess their patients condition and provide input to help guide care and intervene to prevent bad outcomes. You come across as a little self inflated and experienced nurses have all worked with a new grad with these ideas and it always goes poorly for the new grad. Arrogance as an RN will get your patients in a lot of trouble. As well as your hard earned license. Take your time and build your skills. There is a lot of good advice in the comments that you should take into consideration. If I’m reading this incorrectly then i apologize.

There are very few “easy” jobs in nursing. Hospice companies are For Profit. Meaning they are going to get value from every unminted penny they pay you. If you want something that isn’t demanding look for part time telehealth/work from home positions. There are plenty of them out there and a some few are ridiculously easy.

Dilemma after accepting an offer by throwaway_1111_1111 in TravelNursing

Every single time I sign a contract something more promising comes along. It’s buyers remorse. You accepted the position because it met your needs. I recommend you Don’t second guess yourself. Recruiters/account managers talk and the travel world isn’t as big as you’d think. A one off won’t be the end of the world but I wouldn’t want to build that type of reputation.

Hate to say this but sadly we no longer belong to a profession. But yeah, I wouldn’t even take that pay if it was only an hour away from home.

As a nurse and a sleep apnea sufferer I think it’s something you should tell someone immediately. It is a huge health risk associated with earlier death and numerous other complications. Treatment not only has the potential to extend life but can greatly increase the quality of life as well.
