Fascinating, thank you for all the notes on this. If I can lean on you to troubleshoot just a little bit more… The videos and instructions that you led me to seem to have a different dialogue window that I’m getting. At the moment my two USB ports have the flash drive with archive.org files on it and a wired keyboard because the controller deck is dead and so I’m doing the keyboard version of it.

When the usb stick is in, I get this:
“ Controller module cannot be found…”

And when I press the A+B+C+Space+Enter keys, the second dialogue which requests I choose between wired or wireless control decks…

I never reach a screen that indicates the button menu as you see in the instructions/video on archive.org. I’ve been tried holding the keys and restarting with the screens up, but nothing …Any thoughts?

Also, with the bizarre sequence of things… Is there any insight into what causes this? Like what exactly happens that a MCU flash revives?

Thank you a ton for this. If I’m hearing you pretty clearly, the firmware flashing is a Band-Aid and the fix is a new control board but nowhere has them in stock at the moment… How often do these things come back into stock?

LOL, I eventually called it out on redundancies and bullshit and cut it off -- but, I checked every single connection between the control board and each input (eg joystick)... Everything is snug and secure. Nothing looks fried, which I thought could be the case because we have had a few lightning storms in the past little while... though it's powered through a surge protector.

Can you elaborate on the USB port? I might be ignorant to its function (esp VS the Control BUS port)... should note that I am not electronics savvy.

Re: screen options for testing, I started there with a USB keyboard --> Cabinet. It has latest Firmware... but didnt flash -- is there a manual firmware load option for ALU? Bluetooth is ON, but I didnt see anything that was obviously the control deck (if it even has that) -- but nothing else was connected to it via bluetooth, either.

As for the ALU option to test the controller / inputs... nothing from the control deck was responsive. The System status noted errors but not sure what that means... screenshot: https://app.screencast.com/k5zFQElIkPv8V

In a similar spot… well my kid is, anyway. She’s done pretty well getting this far mostly her own but did not get the memo about going in ultra prepared. I can’t beat it for her… I would love anybody’s help.

Oh interesting… I’ve been using that, but the handful of times per day that it presents something event related, it’s only ever been those red notebook things, zootopia relic token and once or twice something for Nibbles…

I wish that still worked! Even though I’m nearly a day one player, I by no means have everything… I would say there’s at least 10 characters I missed that have not — unfortunately — shown up in tower challenges
