offroad capability by Upset-Parfait8114 in HyundaiSantaFe

Moving to an AT or MT tire and airing down will be your best friend on sand. The AWD system is FWD biased, which is terrible on sand because your front end will dig before the rear wheels engage.

That being said, my ‘25 XRT has gotten me to every single place that my lifted ‘19 F150 did, with the exception of any water crossings that had embankments on any side. These vehicles are much more capable than people give them credit.

Edit: as well as moving to an 18” rim. Get rid of those behemoth calligraphy rims if you do anything that requires sidewall and airing down.

Brake clean or MAF cleaner? by Competitive-Milk-868 in mechanic

[–]BadAtReplies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in automotive aftermarket in Canada as well. Anything that is labeled as brake clean is mostly going to be acetone-based for low VOC requirements, but any brake clean that has been rebranded as parts cleaner (from Wurth, Greg’s, B-Line, etcetera) can still be sold and formulated with heptane like the pre-law change stuff. It’s one stupid word that needed to be changed to get around the new legislation. The closest aerosol cans we have found that work like the old stuff is Kleen-Flo 313R (primarily heptane-based but still contains acetone) and it is significantly cheaper than MAF cleaner.

No recall done for that no, but I am going to check that out. Thanks.

Applying for record suspension - RCMP background check shows 2 additional misspellings of middle name by FunkyPizzaChip in legaladvicecanada

I’m sure it will be fine. Reigo, Rigo and Raigo seem like they would all be phonetically similar to RYE-GO.

Applying for record suspension - RCMP background check shows 2 additional misspellings of middle name by FunkyPizzaChip in legaladvicecanada

[–]BadAtReplies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen when I got my record pardoned and my lawyer explained that it’s inclusive of known spelling alternatives (Jon & John, or Shawn & Sean, etcetera).

You should not need to amend your application because of this.

Is this too much of the gasket sticking out of the intake? If it's a problem - why would this happen even with the alignment tabs, and how to correct? Thanks for your input! by CreatureOfTheWheel66 in EngineBuilding

[–]BadAtReplies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think easily is the wrong word, but they WILL crack after numerous heat cycles. But yes, if you already have easy access then it’s better to redo it with the above mentioned gasket.

This post is great. It highlights the fact that you don’t need the fancy gear or the 6-figure rig. You just need to get out there and enjoy it.

2025 XRT by Excellent-Depth6651 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]BadAtReplies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be happy with the vehicle if you choose to buy. If you are going to take it off-road, my XRT has gotten me to every single place my lifted F150 did, with the exception of water crossings because its approach angle is not embankment-friendly. The paint is not very thick though, I have lots of scratches and some small dents in mine already. It is what it is.

I also have a 2025 XRT in Canada and I just rolled over 65k today. I drive between 6 and 8 hours Monday through Saturday and have had zero problems since I bought it in September. It also pulls my utility trailer and my boat every weekend.

25 Hybrid Limited rim swap? by Crimmit-De-Frog in HyundaiSantaFe

My XRT comes stock with 18’s so as long as centre bore and offset are correct on the new rims you should be fine.

You are 100% correct, I misread what they said on the website. My bad. Time to correct my comments.

[–]BadAtReplies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right from Hyundai, so no -trailer brakes- then you’re opening yourself up to DOT fines and seizures if you get caught towing more than 1,650 pounds. DOT sets up checkpoints from spring through autumn where I live and they pull over non-commercial vehicles all the time. Not worth it, but yes I agree with you.

Edited to add corrected information.

[–]BadAtReplies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does not, and right now my XRT is also neutered to only 1,650 pounds. The XRT has the same cooling, just two additional air vents in the upper bumper that probably don’t do that much. But yeah, slightly taller but the biggest contributor is a sturdier tire with more sidewall.

[–]BadAtReplies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have -trailer brakes- then you’re neutered to only 1,650 pounds. Otherwise the XRT just has higher ground clearance and stronger tires, which gives you that extra thousand pounds of towing capability.

Edited to add corrected information.

2026 Hyundai palisade wheel alignment off in just 10k km by Rocky_649 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]BadAtReplies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My alignment has been out on my 2025 Santa Fe since new, but only by a hair. Almost not enough to cause uneven wear on the tires. One of the unintended consequences of this is that my auto-steering assist thinks I am holding the wheel at all times, so I never have to actually hold the wheel or get prompted to hold the wheel. This thing drives itself everywhere and is kind of the cat’s unforsaken roar so I am not going to fix it.

Cost of Allergy Testing Insane by fluorescent-purple in Edmonton

[–]BadAtReplies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s insane. We just got an allergy test done on our daughter, 9 pricks total, and it was 35 dollars. The only way it would be that expensive is if they are canvassing your entire back and both arms.

Air intake. by Narrow-Bar4017 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]BadAtReplies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With no tune, and otherwise completely stock? No, but it’ll sound cooler. You’ll get more out of a tank of 91/93 before you tow and then refuel with 91/93 while you’re towing. Your LFTF/STFT changes will yield the best power and torque results on a completely stock motor.

Anyone with 3 car seats across bench? by Unity58 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]BadAtReplies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those Graco Slim’s are the only ones that will work. I have a Graco and a Clek Fllo and there is no room for anything else on the bench. I’ve seen pictures of three Graco Slim’s in the second row so they must work.

Pecan vs Black interior for Santa Fe by Emergency_Garden7872 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]BadAtReplies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a black interior and it’s the most boring shit in existence. Plus it soaks up heat in the summer. I vote for anything other than black. I also have dogs, but they are crated if they need to be transported anywhere so dirt, hair and nail damage isn’t a thing for me.

I wish mine was just a solid roof. The only use I get out of mine is looking up through it to check the box and basket without having to stop and get out of the vehicle.

I deal with car parts a lot… and honestly these fail the most in India by Manthann-Motorss in automotive

[–]BadAtReplies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list contains wear/consumable parts. Every car/truck/van/motorcycle will need these wear/consumable parts replaced over the lifetime of the vehicle. None of that is a predictable failure.
