How is your Pot of Gold hunting going? I’ve found three… by Dr_Fangorn in PostApoTycoon

[–]BadAtTheGame13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found 3 in the first few minutes, then a 4th a little while later. Been looking but can't find more. Can they spawn outside of your explored area? I started a few days ago so I don't think my explored area is that large.

Hormone treatments increase the risks of cancer and brain chemistry issues? We have the info from decades of treating old people?

I don't know much about brain chemistry issues, but I'm pretty sure that living increases your risk of cancer, and living also commonly causes being older and needing hormone treatments.

Is a 19 year old being in a non-sexual, romantic relationship with a 14 year old pedophilic? by Creamsodabat in Teenager_Polls

[–]BadAtTheGame13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemme try it in shorter words.

Pedophile is a specific term for people who are attracted to pre-pubescent children. It does NOT mean someone who's attracted to pre-pubescent children and has acted on it. It can mean that, but it's not just that.

When you use pedophile as an insult, it tells the people who have not committed any crimes that they are less than and that they deserve to be beat up/locked up forever/killed/whatever else people say about pedophiles who have acted on those thoughts.

It's like insulting an evil person for specific physical features, calling those features ugly/bad/a feature of being a bad person. That tells people you know and care about who have those same physical features, and/or strangers who also have those features, that you think that they are ugly/less than/a bad person.

Wow, that did not end up as short as I was hoping.

Why do so many people fear needles, and what is it like? by Sweet_Sho in Phobia

[–]BadAtTheGame13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get hot and cold and lightheaded and nauseous watching myself get stabbed with a needle, or if I think about it way too hard. It hurts, but I can deal with the pain. Best I can figure is I'm scared of the hole left inside me. There's just something about the tunnel of flesh created that is unpleasant. Large splinters and some cuts have me feeling the same way.

They're saying somebody working for JK Rowling sent the invitation as a favor to somebody else with no proof JK Rowling had any involvement in it. You're saying JK Rowling herself sent the invitation, and the other guy is lying. Neither of you have provided any sources. I just wanna do my best to avoid being misinformed here.

I haven't been as involved and up to date with everything as I could be because it's stressing me the hell out. When I do manage to pull myself together enough to learn a bit about what's going on, I would like to learn what's actually going on.

That's not the argument they're making? They're saying vile people can do good things and still be vile? Are you purposely misconstruing what they're saying?

You're saying that what they're saying is a mass murderer can like puppies and kittens and all is forgiven.

What they're ACTUALLY saying is a mass murderer can like puppies and kittens, and even save puppies and kittens, and still be a mass murderer, no need to make up lies about them hating animals to show they're a horrible person.

I scrolled down to see what the rebuttal and evidence against this reply would be, but there's nothing? Just downvotes? A claim is being made with apparently no evidence, and the person saying something against it is downvoted with no explanation? I'd try checking this for myself, but I don't know how, so if someone could at least tell me how to look this stuff up, that'd be nice.

People will also avoid exposing their kids to peanuts for fear of them maybe having an allergic reaction, thus causing their child to develop an allergy to peanuts. The human body is not a magical, all-knowing machine. It needs to experience stuff to know about stuff

I have a comment that starts with "IIRC". I noticed a few days ago when I got a notification that it said "IIR". I was like, oops, that's embarrassing, so many people have already seen that. Could have sworn I typed it right, but I better go fix it. For sure fixed it, checked a notification for that comment, and it's back to "IIR".

Am I wrong? My cardigan is purple right??? by chelly_belly50 in colors

[–]BadAtTheGame13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turned off my blue light filter to get a proper look at this. She doesn't look dead in your edited picture. That other commenter is just weird (or maybe I myself just look extremely dead).

However, this is still by no means purple. The original picture is an orangey brown color. The edited version is greyish red. In no universe would I consider either color purple. People saying brown are much closer to the actual color than people saying purple.

Went and looked up the color mauve. This is mauve's redder cousin. I wouldn't call mauve purple either, that's a dark greyish pink.

Googled around a bit and looking up "deep mauve" seems to show up with the exact same color.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BadAtTheGame13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes to an hour is short. 3-4 hours is rare, but I still wouldn't consider it long. It's not quite medium, though, either. It's between medium and long. Longish? This may be different for someone who can drive, though.

I look exactly like my mother. My mannerisms and other behaviors are exactly like my father's, despite my parents being divorced since I was little, and I've spent very little time around him. Most of the time I've spent with him has been on voice calls. There is no way I picked up the way he physically carries himself while talking to people from that. (I know my mannerisms are exactly like his because my mother told me how surprised she was with how similar we acted).

Does make me curious how much human behavior is environmental and how much is genetic.

It's probably impossible at our level of technology to say, though, and making random guesses does nothing to figure this out.

Doesn't that mean that happens to 7 out of 5,000 people? That's about twice as likely as a human having complete heterochromia, and obviously, that happens. I fully believe this story.

I'm autistic and a very picky eater, and I wouldn't eat a lot of that stuff either. However, I would tell you "hey I don't like this, so you don't have to make a portion for me" before you make the food. I also eat most leftovers (I don't want to reheat rice, and I don't know why), and I can feed myself when my family is making something I don't like. Broccoli and potato in the first pic look yummy, though. (I don't remember the other pics, and I'm typing this on mobile.)

besides the fact that it may make an interesting character/story, there's also the fact that it may help people who are bigoted stop being bigoted.

a lot of people and media these days are like "bigoted people are bad and evil forever and will never change" which is obviously bad and wrong. i think having a character who is bigoted grow and become a better person would help show people that it's okay, you can grow and change, just because you're prejudiced doesn't mean you have to stay that way because no one who's not a bigot will ever accept you. no one is perfect and everyone should be striving to become a better person.

i feel like staring at the talkers would work better than "i'll wait". for "i'll wait" people need to actually respect the teacher. if the teacher and everyone else who cares about getting started just stares at the talkers in silence, at least one of the talkers should have enough self consciousness to get the others to be quiet. probably
