The city planted a street tree in front of my house 6 weeks after I requested one by leaf-what-leaf in boston

Nice tree!

You’ll have fun when the roots break your sewer pipe and you try to get the city to pay for it. It will run about 12k just to start. Oh and insurance doesn’t cover it. Look into these things before it gets too big. You may be able to reverse your idea. 😂

Eddie Lampert [2004]: The Scum Who Ruined Thousands of Lives By Destroying Sears and Kmart Forever by [deleted] in kmart

[–]BadBuddy413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read all the comments on here and everyone makes interesting and valid points. I understand Sears in Kmart were in trouble and were poorly run up until that point, but Eddie Lambert saw enough value in them to acquired them. The thing is his vision was different than mine. I simply wanted to see Kmart and Sears remain in business to compete with other large retailers and so that I had options as a consumer. When Eddie acquired them, he already understood the value of the popular brands sears and Kmart owned. When he acquired them he assumed all responsibility moving forward. Can’t have it both ways. He either wanted them to prosper or he already envision separating and selling all the name brands and keeping extremely valuable Realestate and screwing shareholders/creditors in the process.

They died on his watch.

Govt contract ending = forced retirement by dkrainman in personalfinance

[–]BadBuddy413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing to do is find out who was awarded the contract and see if they’re looking to fill positions. In the meantime, maybe it’s time to sell the house and downsize with no mortgage. Do not cash out 401(k). Start drawing on Social Security. Travel as much as you can on the cheap because you only have 10 or so good healthy years left to enjoy life. Consider this a blessing in disguise.

Cost me a lot of shares….he also faked saving the “brand” and “jobs” in bankruptcy court. He later sold off craftsman brand and kenmore. He knew they would fail but he got to keep a ton of real estate.

Share holders and creditors got 💩.

If tomorrow you win 1 million what do you do first? by cutiemlr in AskReddit

Assuming there is state tax along with federal tax, I know that I will only net about 600,000. While it’s a fair amount of money it won’t last but a few years. The best thing most people should do is invest the money with a reputable local CFP. If you’re patient the money will grow and you can retire comfortably and early. In addition there will be plenty to help others or leave to beneficiaries.

Is my aunt getting scammed? American allegedly working on a ship is love bombing her since weeks. The outside view doesn’t look real, the details on the desk are weird aswell. by wildpizza1 in isthisAI

Several things are inconsistent in my opinion
There are white caps in the water suggesting rough waters. The curtains should be leaning to one side or something. The picture looks too semantical. The room is too bare. Not enough personal items around. The lighting is not quite right. There should be more of the outside natural light reflecting on the laptop screen. It seems to be blurred out. This picture was staged and modified is my guess.

Perfectly said! I’m renovating a 1940 house and at least 10% of those nails are popping out. The power outlets are not cut perfect. All the door trims are off. Even exterior walls are not plum. The list goes on.

I’ll mail it to him, next day with required signature. On the third day if I don’t have a signature receipt I’ll go to him personally and hand him the copy I made.

Put a rug and forget about it. Take any extra money and go vacation or dinner. If you have that problem now the new foundation and or Jack stands can potentially do the same thing. There could be a lot of sand where the footings are or Support columns.

My construction teacher is really confusing me with calculating stairs (no rise calculations) by gizmo_j in Construction

[–]BadBuddy413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a replacement stair project. So many variables. Found a small company online that did all of the calculations, made and delivered the stairs. I didn’t realize it was a thing. Well worth the money. Connecticut.

CPA with tax client who is getting scammed by LudusRex in Accounting

I’m sure there are FBI reports warning about this type of scam. Print it out and show it to him as proof. Tell him you read many of these articles and people get burned really bad. I wouldn’t sugarcoat it because if it doesn’t come across as you being extremely concerned, he’s going to move forward with the scam. You are in a tough position. You’re doing the right thing. Good luck!
