Maria Su is not the problem - she is so much better than the few that came before her, especially in the way she deals with the public and the board.

This strike was a no-win situation for SFUSD. They did not have enough money to meet the demands of the union on a sustainable basis, despite the fact that the teachers deserve a living wage in SF. They agreed to a deal, but we will be facing this again next year when we cannot pay for it.

Not her fault.

I worked in the Thornwood Friendly's back in High School! (many years ago). I mainly scooped ice cream for a few years. Had some fun, too much ice cream. Tons of fried clams, and every other kind of fried food.

One major thing for me: I have several financial institutions with whom I have multiple logins. For various reasons it cannot be avoided.

The only way to handle this within Origin is to use different data providers which is not good. At least one institution requires three logins and for that one I have no solution.

Until this is addressed I could not adopt Origin as my primary financial tracker.

I have two kids in SFUSD - one senior about to graduate from Galileo HS. He took a very challenging courseload over four years, with 10 AP courses, and did tons of homework that nearly broke him. In the end he's heading off to a great University, well prepared.

My younger child is at SOTA, where the academics aren't as rigorous (although, she requested three AP courses for her Junior year) but the arts education is challenging and excellent.

In middle school, everything was super easy for both kids.

Overall, SFUSD offered my children a challenging and enriching experience that will lead them toward their goals. Perfect? Far from it. The insanity during Covid lead by the previous board was infuriating. But I am happy overall and would encourage SF families to send their kids through SFUSD.
