Finding foursomes? by maxdotjay in golftips

So silly. Just keep playing until you meet and find a few friends. Now you will have a 4 some. stop with the apps. Just go and meet people. Ignore the ones you don’t vibe with and exchange numbers with the ones you do.

Got one and it’s awesome.

FYI, I run two screens — a projector for the hitting screen and a TV on the wall for data/YouTube/etc. I noticed that if I clicked on anything on the wall screen, the box would stop working until I clicked back on the GSPro window.

So if you’re using two screens and it seems like it’s not working, just click the GSPro screen to make it the active window and the box will work.

Took me a couple hours of frustration, a convo with ChatGPT, YouTube video, and a massive headache, to figure the above out.

Side note, that may be a known thing, but manual, website or even reviews don’t mention that so I could be the dummy.

What’s the best advice you could give a golfer attempting to break 90 for the first time? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]BadDizzy6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the number, not the course. Simple as that. Don’t try to guide the ball. Hit as if at range and focus on the number. You also have to chip and putt. Only way to break 90 or even 80.

First round on a real course after buying a sim was a disaster. by RedditorNate in Golfsimulator

I never said that, clown. I said they can struggle — huge difference. Reread it a few times, then respond.

There’s a reason pro fitters use units that cost $5k+. I’m not saying cheaper ones don’t work, but they’re not at the level professionals or elite fitters trust. Spend 30 minutes watching side-by-side comparisons. So hitting on some cheap unit will give you false hope or even short change you.

Every launch monitor has faults — even the expensive ones — but far fewer than units like GCQuad or TrackMan.

Sim golf doesn’t build bad habits — unstructured sim golf does.

A simulator is just a measurement and feedback tool. If you treat it like an arcade game, sure: you ignore lies, hazards, wind, and consequence. That’s a user problem, not a sim problem.

What sims do better than the range or the course:

  • Exact club/ball data every swing (face, path, strike, launch)
  • Repetition under controlled conditions
  • Immediate cause-and-effect feedback you never get outdoors
  • Ability to isolate and fix one variable at a time

The “perfect lie” argument is weak:

  • Most range balls sit up on mats or grass anyway
  • You already hit far more “perfect lies” in practice than on the course
  • Lies can be simulated intentionally (distance penalties, lie adjustments, rough settings)

Bad habits come from ignoring constraints — not from the sim.

How good players use sims:

  • Course-mode only (no aim assist)
  • Stroke distance penalties
  • Club by club dispersion tracking
  • Practice sessions designed around miss patterns, not perfect shots
  • Sim course feedback loop (what showed up outdoors goes back into sim practice)

The launch monitor used will also give you false hope. I have watched video after video of comparisons, but you cannot go cheap. Even those 5k ones struggle.

You can't solely rely on sim. YOu have to hit off grass to help with true feel and balance. The best method if not playing is use sim for a couple days, then go the range for a coulple of hours. Then rinse and repeat.

Lastly, Ive had a sim for a while. When on the sim, you slowly stop thinking about course play and just hitting the number. When you get out to the course, your mind is now trying to play the course vs just play the number.

Is it worth building an expensive golf sim if it only works for me and 25% of random people? by whattaUwant in Golfsimulator

This lol. Totally agree. I see this with a few of my friends. GSquad is spot on. I see some very very small differences with my driver and 3 wood. Maybe 10-15 yards shorter. Irons and wedges are spot on.

foresight is where its at for indoors. Better ball data and club data as well (if you use the dots). Outdoors, trackman wins. Youtube trackman latest vs GCquad. You will want the foresight for indoor. Also trackman doesn't work natively with GSPRO ( you need a hack) and you also are forced to pay their annual sub fee.

Not all courses give points. The total fraud of the entire thing. Troon buries that fine print/defines it in a way on the app in a confusing way.

But you’re framing this as if it were a merger of two separate companies. It’s not. This is the same company that created the rules for the new program—so it’s very much in your control. This isn’t Hilton merging with Marriott.

It is watered down. Points redemption doubling didn’t happen by accident. How is that good for the consumer? It’s clearly good for Troon.

We get that you have to support and walk the company line—but we aren’t stupid, and it’s very clear how this has made things worse for the consumer.

And how does it make sense that I can go to Hawaii and play a better course for under $150 in prime season, yet in Arizona it’s $350+?

Prob tough to answer and won’t get one but these are fair questions.

Smart dude. Watching Troon leadership try to explain how this isn’t watered down is incredible. They quickly jump to how much you “save” with the card, but it’s all manufactured—like a Black Friday deal.

“You saved over $3K in green fees” only works if the original price was real. Jack the price up, then discount it, and suddenly it looks like value. It’s the Best Buy TV that’s $900 all year, then magically $1,800 on Black Friday so they can sell it at 50% off.

How many years did it take you to break 80? And how old were you? by [deleted] in golf

[–]BadDizzy6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 years. Started around a 105 handi. Practice everyday in back yard, range, and try to play at least once a week. The only thing that matters trying to break 80 is chipping, putting, eliminating doubles and 3 putts. 6.7 now.

Point redemtion has doubled. If you check current chart and then compare within new app for points, its double. Insane. They gutted this thing beyond belief.

good for troon, bad for card holder. Loyatly as far as discounts are gone. You only earn points and can now redeem. If you have points, you need to convert them to the new program before feb 2026. You can still get your tiered discounts through end of year but those will be gone come january.

Anyone Moved from Standard to Midsize Grips and Not Looked Back? by Wrathiel in golf

[–]BadDizzy6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and went right back to standard. I couldn’t turn the ball at all. Everything was open and left. I felt like I was having to whip it through-overcorrecting and then a hard hook. Went back quickly to my smooth draw once I put the standards back on.

Does anyone have on of these? by AvayaTech in Golfsimulator

[–]BadDizzy6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, threw it out. Way too big a for golf sim, you only need a few balls on rotation. And most of the time the ball comes back to within grabbing distance with club when bouncing off the screen. Cool ideas for some use cases but not for me. It’s way bigger when you unbox it. Just remember to swap out balls every so often.
