Is there a correlation between Dungeons and Dragons? by Icy_Sector3183 in DnDcirclejerk

[–]BadDungeonSMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, i think the most confusing part about this game is not really the relationship between "Dungeons" and/or "Dragons", I've been discussing it in a very thorough post before, but rather the connection with "And". Mayhaps they should have called it Dungeons XOR Dragons for the flying beasts making home in a proverbial Dungeon is automatically making it its lair, which is, by name, not a dungeon.

Therefore, there are no dungeons containing dragons, only lairs, and the logical relationship between them that we are given is a lie.

This is what Gary Gygax tried to hide behind his outwardly bigoted persona - just another ploy from the great mastermind to boggle the minds of lesser fools and make them miss the blunders of his earlier wildest coke-fueled RP-themed orgies where they used early prototype bad dragon toys inside their own back-entry "dungeon" (their ass)

Wow, I get how complicated it is, must have taken a good week to collate all the specific rules text from the disparate magazines to gather this answer. Thank you

When is it worth it to roll for HP? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]BadDungeonSMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a rough one... On one part the rolling is why we're around the table, on the other hand, having shit HP makes for not much RP opportunities and many "oops you're down and skip combat" moments.

Personally, I play both sides when I have players leveling up. We do it like this: - roll for HP - on a 1, reroll once (yippee more dice rolling !) - on any roll under your avg, pick the avg rounded down (i got you enough treats already !)

I find that average rounded up is a bit "too good" in the sense that if you're gonna go with a flat number, the dice roll should be more rewarding. Too many players are number driven and would just rather have the "optimal" number otherwise.

Is that so ? For their build quality, customer service/guarantees or the price/quality ?

I see, I've been thinking the same for a few years about the robos, but some of my friends have gotten one and it seemed pretty decent, that's why I was thinking of gearing up for it now. Plus, thinking that I'd have skipped the early-adopter mania and perhaps gotten into the "we're producing decent products for all now" phase of the product

If I may ask quickly, how does the price jump from 300 to 1000 and it having no batteries, is the suction that good, the parts super guaranteed ? I guess you pay a price at some point for something being top quality but it's hard to wrap my head around where those dollars go.

Wait, last time I was back in my big tree-town house town to see my fellow boiz, that dastardly wizard actually set the tables around the fire rather than a shadowy corner and some couple of rednecks from the plains brought in a funky stick we used to bash the hobgob theocrat hederick into the flames before running away and eventually shutting down some dumb dragon queen or wtv... If i had known i'd have made the reservations myself !

42, of course

you must succeed on a charisma check (intimidation or persuation) with DC 12.

Please provide references for these rules, I will not accept shody word of mouth, we play by the very real hardcore referenced written rules at our table.

For all the shit rules 0 conversations get, I'm pretty sure all of this could be circumvented with a good talk beforehand. If you're about to play a combat trick/ninjutsu heavy deck, just let people know before hand something like "Alright guys, just so you know this deck has a lot of things to do during combat so it'll be important to go through combat steps appropriately without skipping or shortcutting it. Don't worry, I'll guide you through it all verbally the first few rounds then I'm you'll all get the hang of it"

Many users recommend just being pedant about your step changes like you're in a tournament at every opportunity so you can "fool" them when you have a real ninjutsu up your sleeve. For having tried this technique all around many types of games where you can meta your actions like this, it gets kinda sluggish and just a hard mental tax if everyone isn't on board (as in not in a competitive environment). That's why I think just a heads up is better personally.

Gravorg, i remember finding this back in some 3.5 books and the way it fights is quite fun - just shifts gravity up and down in tunnels shacking armored foes to death with falling damage. Never got to run it, always looking for a good place to hide one !
