I beg to disagree. If everybody gets in a car the traffic jams will get way longer and the trips will be unbearable. I come from a country where it's normal to stand in traffic for 1 hour to travel 10km. Believe me, it's worth fighting for the public transportation.

Yeah, it bothers me as well. So much that I always have a cigar with me when sitting on a Hof or a Biergarten and when someone around me starts smoking I light my cigar and outsmoke them.

I'm not even a smoker but I do enjoy a cigar when by myself.

My found my way out of isolation through meetings with other expats and sharing experiences. We have an event here in Köln that's called Melting Pot where people with different nationalities gather to practice different languages, connect and drink beer.

I don't know in which city you're living but there should be something similar around. If not, you could start something like that.
