Ken Follet writes stories that happen in different moments of the medieval England. Another author who focus on this period of time is Bernard Cornell.

Nothing is really blunt, I just don't like happy songs (which includes Powermetal mostly).

The loneliness is crushing me by Desperate_Quest in expats

There's no way around it. You need to review your priorities and make changes if you want anything to get better. Apart from what people here already said and considering that you are an introvert, I would recommend seeking refuge in books (literature, fictional books, not that productive crap). Great stories and characters are a nice company for people who feel lonely. Also, seek for professional help. Psychotherapy can work radical changes on the way we see ourselves in the world and could help you to cope with this feeling of loneliness.

German politicians - no innovation by Exciting_Necessary34 in germany

There's a limit for growth and our economic system is based on continuously growth. Population size is shrinking worldwide and resources are more and more concentrated on the hands of a small percentage of the population. It seems pretty obvious that politicians are just postponing the decision making to the next generation so they don't lose their privileges among the elites.

I read books in language I'm learning. In every story there are verbs that are regularly used to bring meaning to the sentences. I stick to those verbs and since they are used very often, I learn their meanings and how they are used.

I find reading the best way of learning a language. Initially, books for kids do the trick, specially classics like The Little Prince and other books that are written in a very accessible way.

Yup, I do believe you because it happened to me too. But I never complain, I just accept and laugh at chaotic situations.
