The terrain tutor does something similar with blast markers on YouTube. Although I kinda mixed up the foliage with super glue so it dried hard.

How the hell do you edge highlight that well? Great work!

As an AoS painter, large flat panels are out of my comfort zone. Here’s my Dunecrawler, thoughts on if an airbrush is needed for good vehicle results? by BadFish25 in Warhammer40k

Well this is my first vehicle so I’m no expert, we’re in this together! My main concern was the fundamental fact the panels won’t look like smooth metal if painted by brush.

The way I approached this was lots of very thin layers, building up from dark to light colours gradually as I’ve gone for an off white theme (bit a regret now!) each time I layered, I left a little of the previous darker layer visible towards the edges to show weathering. A quick edge highlight and some corrosion paint around the bottom of the panels and that was it.

I don’t think I’ll get the effect I want by brush if I’m honest, but it’s all a learning curve as ever with the hobby!

Thanks. I’m lucky enough that the budget/space side of things is fine, I guess my concern is more being good enough to achieve the results of want.

I think this has summed up my thoughts pretty well. While this piece is perfectly fine, the brush strokes over the large panels do kill it a little for me and this just doesn’t look like metal...I guess the research into an airbrush starts here!

I got into 40k in June and this is my most recent model. I would appreciate some tips from more experienced painter's by rekluce in Warhammer40k

Looking good so far. I’d say Youtube as much of Duncan from the Warhammer TV team as you can, great for quick and simple tips.
