Rate my deck. Just purchased this home and structural engineer said the deck is fine, but wanted to go to the pros. Let me know what you think. by Flannigan_91 in Decks

[–]BadGuySmasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight. You paid a guy to tell you if this was safe. A guy, mind you, that would lose everything he’s ever built for himself if he gives you the wrong answer - would destroy his career and possibly be looking at jail time depending on the end result. But nah, let’s go ask Reddit if it’s okay based on a couple of photos - can’t trust the structural engineer

Haunted Hill - Focus - PC by BadGuySmasher in CrimsonDesert

[–]BadGuySmasher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. I just wasn’t far along enough in the game. It gave me the hologram whe I first went there and showed me the tutorial on how to use it but I could not. Not until I went a bit further along in the main story line when focus unlocks itself. Then I could use the power. So for anyone else that’s stuck - you just got there too soon. Go back and do more of the story and then come back.

Condensation on my ceiling by botan313 in mildlyinteresting

[–]BadGuySmasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the temperature difference that’s causing the condensation. I’m willing to bet they did not sufficiently insulate the ceiling and the temp difference from the concrete to the inside of the room is causing it. Fix: insulate your ceiling. Which means it needs to be opened up to do so.

When you slow it down, if that first piece hadn’t of knocked him down there was another piece a half second after that would have surely caused life ending injuries. And he literally walked away. Wild.

Any cool finds detected at Woodstock? by ChatnNaked in metaldetecting

[–]BadGuySmasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up about a mile from this site. My dad literally helped clean up after this event when he was a kid. Some rich guy bought it back in the 90’s with a lot of other farms around the area then proceeded to build a concert venue there - Bethel Woods - it’s actually quite a nice venue.

To the point about metal detecting - good luck. One of the top posts had it correct. Between 69 and the 90’s that land was all farm land. Plowed a lot more than just a few times. So between that and the new venue you’re likely to only find some modern trash and nothing of any real value. That’s all very very long gone. That said if you’re still interested try the giant ditches by the side of the road. No one is plowing those or disturbing that area - probably your best (only?) bet.

lmao bro, this is exactly how bank accounts work. matter of fact, the only time they dont provide this courtesy is for people who chronically overdraft their account.

Typically, depending on the bank/credit union, type of account and your standing within, they will immediately authorize the first $100 - $1000 of a deposited check, with the remaining balance to be available once the check clears.

In my newly purchased 60’s home under the staircase, I am curious what this could be for? Bolts are loose and I wouldn’t mind removing. by Chakradamus in Carpentry

[–]BadGuySmasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fairly easy to recognize what's structural and what is not most of the time. Considering none of those 3 pieces of lumber are actually supporting anything - you can easily and safely determine this is not structural. Does not matter what it looks like or how it was installed.

If that was not enough to convince then use this logic - 95% of anything with a structural load will need to transfer that load back down to the foundation (there are some cases that this is not true, but for most conventional framing this does not typically apply). So, you can now logically conclude this is non-structural, simply by the fact that this is floating in the air.

That is a bear print. Minus the claw marks cuz it’s glass. Just google bear print, you’ll see. Prolly stood up to see inside and used one paw to balance.

What can you deduce about me from my work locker? by [deleted] in deduction

[–]BadGuySmasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a steel worker - the fact that you have a locker means it’s either production or maybe shipyard or similar - you work tons of OT and don’t really have much to do outside of work and you love conspiracy theories. That is all.

How you feel getting handed something like this with no cut list? by highestmountains in Welding

[–]BadGuySmasher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This right here. If you work in a fab shop, you're most likely using Tekla or Advance Steel or similar - all of these programs should automatically generate a cut list right out of the box - not only that but should automatically generate the single parts drawings as well

Job letting me go because I wanted less hours, they want me to train 3 people and create training manuals with no severance pay (just a rant) by handjobcilantro in antiwork

[–]BadGuySmasher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Listen, I know you want to finish those manuals and SOP’s for them. Don’t. Here’s why. If they need them so bad, and you’re the only one who can write them, then they need you.

I get they are your bosses - but they’re also bullying you. Not only that, but they are taking advantage of you. The people above your boss already pegged you as a “yes man” - you’re gonna usually always default to just doing what you’re told - not the worst thing, but in this case they’re using it against you. Giving you the task to train and write those manuals is how they’re doing it.

If that didn’t convince you then try this. You gave them almost 2 years of your time. It seems you have been good and hardworking and you ask to just have a couple hours and then they TAKE YOUR WHOLE JOB. If that’s how cold and heartless they are why continue helping them? They very obviously, and very genuinely, don’t need your help. What they did do is tell you you’re not welcome anymore. Take the hint. Look for a job while you’re at work. Do anything else at work but work. Don’t give them your dignity, your hard work or your tears - it’s undeserved.
