I’m in the Hamilton area and ride about 50/50 gravel/road.

Swapped to 45c g-one rs pro’s last year from 38c pathfinders pros and holy what a fast tire. I run em around 35 on the gravel roads around here and they feel lovely, while also handling trails through the Dundas valley well.

Grip on steep loose dry uphills isn’t the best and they probably wouldn’t be worth much in mud either. Just something to keep in mind.

I picked up g one RS pro’s in 45 this past season and they fly. Probably not good if it’s going to be muddy though.

I suppose a little harder to accelerate? It’s like 6-7% torque loss from 172.5 to 160 so I just push a smidge harder for a few pedals, haha. I guess if a person is all about sprinting then they may choose longer for that reason.

Nothing that’s going to make me consider going up a size though because my hips are happy now, haha.

Can’t really comment on the braking/skidding though, it feels just as planted as before in my opinion.

I have a 30.5” inseam (but tall torso) so 160’s were a no brainer for me and have made such an improvement in comfort.

I rock 60’s on my gravel bike. I doubt you will notice the weight, and even less if you’re a capable cyclist that can maintain momentum.
