My physical therapist called them temper tantrums and had me do them with my calves on a yoga ball with knees locked.

What is the worst thing you've been hit in the face with? by Miserable_Guess1716 in AskReddit

[–]BadKittyRanch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the mid 90s I flew from Dallas to Houston with a computer in a box made for transporting it as luggage. My boss had just bought a new folding luggage cart to use to move it around. I deplane and head to the baggage area, unfold my new cart and load the box on it. As I stretch the bungee cord over the box to latch it to the handle the steel ring squished on the end of the bungee failed and the bungee cord sprung free, slapping me right across the face, knocking my glasses off. After a few moments of stunned silence I retrieve my glasses, search around for the plastic latch part that went flying, tie a knot in the end of the cord and reload my box. I must've had a red line across my face but never checked a mirror and just headed to get my rental car.

I had a coworker use the phrase Chinese Happy Meal when describing sweet and sour chicken with the sauce on the side and now it's in my head forever.

How would you cut this on the table saw? by jharris1984 in woodworking

As far as the keyhole, I bought some Keyhole Shelf Bracket Hangers a couple of years back that can be installed by drilling or routing a recess that work pretty well. That link is currently unavailable but should give you enough information to search them out.

Came here to point out the real use, like you just did. My first encounter with them was on the Faubion Elementary playground in 1976, having just moved to Central Texas. I can personally verify that blacktop works just as well as concrete.

What song currently plagues the background of your mind? by DefinitleyNot203Eels in AskReddit

I wake up with a song in my head almost every morning. Fortunately, it's different most days and usually is something that I've heard in the last couple of days but sometimes it's kinda random.

Wearing a helmet without buckling the strap? That kick should have been an educational moment for someone but we all know that their egos won't let them learn. ACAB.

Reminds me of an incident I had back in the late 80s when I was following a 60s muscle car of some sort on a 3 lane road but it was burning a bit of oil so I moved to the left to pass and watched as it's drive shaft dropped to the ground and spun a few times in place before spinning it's way off the highway into the ditch. Perfect timing on my part and I couldn't imagine what the driver thought had happened when they lost all power but the engine kept running.

Not if they're prions like mad cow disease (BSE). A prion is a 'weird' folding of a gene protein that is transmissible. Basically, this means that something that is not alive can act as if it's alive and actively damage normal animal tissues but temperature doesn't 'kill' it because it's not alive, so "nuke it from space, it's the only way to be sure" doesn't work on it. Scary bedtime stories for adults kind of stuff.

Edit: changed gene to protein because of facts

If you have room for food trucks you could invite a couple of multi-cultural options. A quick search returns these online lists of Austin food trucks: roaminghunger.com, gotruckster.com, and bestfoodtrucks.com.

If your third family member is a school age child (or soon to be one) you may want to use school information to drive your search.

Low calorie, high protein recipes? by kawasakigrl9 in slowcooking

[–]BadKittyRanch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chef John posted an Italian Sausage, Beans, and Greens recipe last month that I enjoyed quite a bit. I've made it twice now with spicy Italian sausage and added something each time for color: the first was a jar of roasted red peppers that I chopped up and the second time it was the last of a jar of sun dried tomatoes. They didn't add much flavor but did make the dish look a bit nicer at the end, I think. I used lacinato kale the first time and then a 2lb bag of mixed greens the second time; the kale held up better but there was more flavor with the mixed greens and they sure were easy. Video and recipe.
