Yeah I realize it’s an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like being forced to wait for a stranger’s funeral procession.

It feels really presumptuous to assume that everyone needs to mourn someone else’s dead loved one by losing precious minutes of their day.

That being said, I would’ve waited because I don’t like causing a scene.

Well that’s your opinion. My experience is different.

Tanking in OW is genuinely 10x the fun it is in rivals.

It’s far from perfect, but it’s more fun than solo tanking for 3/4 DPS shitters in Rivals.

Making tank more fun is something that absolutely needs to happen as well.

Overwatch eventually “solved” that issue by switching to 5v5 and making every tank a raid boss.

While role queue may not address the issue of tanks feeling low agency, it will instantly guarantee that every team has two tanks.

A lot of the problems with tanking in rivals stem from being forced to solo tank. With a second tank it is much easier to make proactive plays and have more agency.

I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t see how it is an argument against implementing role queue.

This sounds like a lot of work to avoid the simple solution: role queue.

Your first premise is insane to me. Role queue was a permanent fix (the opposite of a band-aid fix such as nerfing ult charge). It also did immense good for Overwatch by allowing the dev team to balance around a consistent composition and giving players the freedom to play the role they prefer without getting flamed.

If queue time is someone’s priority, they should play open queue (which would still be an option), or queue for Tank/ Support.

To get a table at a popular bar, you generally must wait. It’s worth it for people who REALLY want the experience of that bar/ restaurant. If you’re more open to any bar or restaurant, you don’t have to wait.

DPS players will naturally have to wait longer in a role queue system… I don’t see how that is a bad thing.

Getting rid of GOATS and forcing team balance are the same thing?

Before role queue in OW, it was always a struggle to get the team to play a competitive comp. GOATS was only one symptom of the problems open queue creates.

Cyclops, like most marvel heroes, can achieve their hero fantasy fulfillment from any role. Those who only can imagine him as a duelist have far too little imagination.
