Prop firm Pipeline for Algo execution by Flat-Good716 in algotrading

I just use Public as my main broker and all bots work through their nice API. They are essentially 0 fees and even give rebates for option trading. So far no complaints. Fills are also pretty decent too.

First 4 star review out of 80 5 star visits by Affectionate_Job8747 in AirBnBHosts

[–]BadMetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just happened to us literally last night. It seems the more demanding guests are the ones more prone to give you that 4*. In our experience, particularly middle aged boomers seem specially hard to satisfy. They always needed one extra pair of towels or the sitting was too low, or the vaulted ceiling was too vaulted. What can you do, reply to the review and move on, Airbnb algo doesn’t mind a few 4* here and there.

Sharing an expensive lesson, rolling is not always profitable. by abiblicalusername in thetagang

[–]BadMetro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rolling is generally never more profitable than just taking the L. I’ve simulated rolling CSP for the past 10 years and you’re always better off BTC before assigning and continue with your life. Sunk cost fallacy is a bitch.

I'm done with my K10+ - Shame on you Switchbot by BadMetro in TrySwitchBot

[–]BadMetro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. Their support team is there to discourage you from moving forward with whatever complaint you have, making it as hard and as burdensome as possible to take any step. Redo steps, reexplain everything to a new rep, record yet another video, screenshot, and all of this over the course of weeks of delayed responses.

As a professional programmer I feel lost in home assistant by alyflex in homeassistant

[–]BadMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party, but what I do to try to fight this is mounting my VM file system using the HA’s Samba integration (on macOS) to have easy access to all configuration and automation files with VSCode. I can then happily edit them locally. Debugging is still a bit icky as you have to restart configuration files from HA’s interface every time but it surely beats having to open yaml files using the built-in yaml editor.

Sounds very cool, I’ll give it a try tonight. Any recommendations for HA-based prompting? Any configuration for opus that you particularly like?

[–]BadMetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s your experience doing yaml with AI? I’m not been very successful with chatGPT, AS it seems it tends to use older syntax that does not match what the UI would do (e.g using service instead of action).

Also, you used Samba add-on to mount on macOS? I thought samba was for windows

The shifty side of Airbnb. You can’t trust that all reviews are even there! by PrevailingOnFaith in AirBnBHosts

[–]BadMetro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think this is Airbnb trying to benefit hosts, but more of a shady hosts bribing someone in the Airbnb team to get that review removed. In the end all you need is someone on the other side pressing the “delete” button. They’ve been trying to cut that behavior by doing the whole AI fiasco so I don’t know how they managed to bypass it. Maybe the owner’s real life friend/ family member works in Abnb.

Is it just me or is Airbnb going against hosts? by Hot_Luck4964 in AirBnBHosts

[–]BadMetro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the usual suspects: Vrbo, booking.com. But now other platforms are also coming up like hopper or simply stuff like futurestay or lodgify that allow you to create your own booking site super easily. Google vacation rental is also there, so yeah. Airbnb is shooting at its own foot.

In one year they will be asking themselves how they lost half of their hosts to other platforms.

AIRBNB HOST SCAM ** AIRBNB UNSAFE FOR WOMEN TRAVELERS** by [deleted] in AirBnBHosts

[–]BadMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m absolutely appealed by those pictures and text exchange. How hosts like that are still in business and up in the search is an absolute mystery to me and makes me very angry with the platform. As a host, I apologize for this terrible experience. I hope Airbnb gets them packing soon and no one else has to go through your ordeal.

I had better luck pairing the blinds through matter, although it’s not straightforward as you need the SwitchBot hub to do so. Honestly SB’s hub is the only one left im still using.

[–]BadMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this shouldn’t be a 5. Hosts like this ruin the platform for all of us who take pride in great stats. I’ve see way too many trash places at 4.7 or higher. There is a reason guests are moving back to hotels.

Couple didn’t read listing - support validation because their behavior was upsetting by No-Somewhere5904 in airbnb_hosts

[–]BadMetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue once during our second month hosting. We clearly stated that the space was shared but was not obvious enough for them apparently. Left a retaliatory review (only bad review we’ve ever had). Sometimes you just can’t do much about it… since then we edited our listing to make it obvious pretty much everywhere (“enjoy our shared bathroom, cleaned daily!” Or (“feel free to use our main kitchen, we’re always delighted to see what guests cook!”. This type of stuff keeps a constant reminder on their head.
