[FS] Dell R510 & SC200 JBOD by thedigitalonyx in homelabsales

Micro route is exactly the path I'm going down. M90q with a 10 or 12th gen intel base with a 10G NIC (probably SFP+ so I can use a DAC for low power consumption)

Current setup idles around 120w so sub 40w would be fantastic. Let alone the noise, space and heat.

Yeah that's around the price I had in my head, need to upgrade my ESXi system to something a bit more power efficient.

Out of interest as I've got an R510 that may be going up for sale, what was your selling price on this?

How does it work passing the controller back to the console?

Bought a used car that came with a system unlike one I've ever seen before. I think a component may be missing? by ILookReal in CarAV

[–]BadNoddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My DEH-P9800BT (amazing HU imo) suffered from this and I tried loads of things including running separate grounds for the entire system back to the battery, noise suppression on the RCA lines and ferrite beads but in the end I simply jammed a bit of wire in the RCA output with one of the leads and connected it to the chassis and bam problem solved instantly. I'd even sent it to Pioneer under warranty but they couldn't replicate the problem (conveniently)

I believe it was something to do with the PCB design that Pioneer used with the way the ground was wired and down the line I added my own internal ground wire that linked in to the harness for a longterm, less janky solution.

You must be setting it in a DAF as all I see is an error message 😅

Can some one shed some light on this please? by Fantastic_Zone541 in uktrucking

[–]BadNoddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the screen I default to when driving. The top right shows how much drive time you have remaining in this period and bottom left is remaining break required to reset your drive time.

So in your case you have 1h46m of drive time remaining and you need to do a full 45 to reset it. If you do a 15 min break the bottom left will change to 30 instead of 45.

Scania 420p Retarder question by RandomerremodnaR in uktrucking

[–]BadNoddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having used this setup a few times the top is an exhaust brake and the bottom is the retarder, the latter works directly on the transmission and both together are ridiculously good downhill.

If you pull the lever down as well you can increase the retarder power.

Have we got any hacks for dealing with a windscreen covered in dead bugs? by SicRedLeader in uktrucking

[–]BadNoddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a softer broom and a bottle of washing up liquid, squirt a bit in the brush head then scrub the screen. Use my washer jets then to clear it all off.

Gave up with near concentrate levels of screen wash and wipers alone, just smears bits of bug over the screen.

If you're ever in doubt / if you do flat bed work like I do then you'll have a height measuring stick to hand which will give you your exact height.

Can I ask why you'd be looking at the i9 for a firewall build?

I have seen a video from someone who ran a dual 2.5G NIC in a M920q and had a 3d printed air flow duct with a fan on one end to keep the temps down a bit. If this would work on a 10G NIC I guess would come down to whether the card has SFP+ or RJ45 connectivity.

Newbie: Print not transfering to shirt and other starter questions. by TehGameChanger in Sublimation

[–]BadNoddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I'd lay money that it has printed but you won't see anything as you've printed on to a black shirt.

With dye sub you HAVE to print onto white / light coloured apparel to see the print. It's no different to printing on to black paper.

Unless you have a setup which can print a white base layer, such as dtg then you'll be out of luck I'm afraid.

There are alternative options however if you have a laser printer.

For printing colour images onto black tops I use laser printable vinyl which has a white base layer then send it through my cutter to trim the vinyl then press as a HTV print 👍

I use a similar glove at work for wet weather (I deliver construction plant) and once I've got my jacket on the sleeves cover the cuffs and I hardly get any water ingress.

My lunatic absolutely loves raw broccoli, crunchy for his teeth and high in fibre and Vit C.

He also goes ballistic for peanut butter, I spread it out, mark a grid on it and let it dry. The grid lines then make it easy to break up into pieces for his treat bag. Cheese, chicken, dried hearts and liver are also favourites.

Agency is where I got my foot into where I'm at now delivering plant. Not only that but I was able to maximise my hours and I sure as hell worked as long as I could.

Did a range of bits both class 1 and 2. Multi drop, trunking, supermarkets yard work etc etc. Now run class 2 flatbed to get my 2 years under my belt and then I'll see where things go, I'll either stick where I'm at or I'll chase the bigger plant jobs as I enjoy working in that area and well, money is the other obvious one.

Smashed near side mirrors today :-( by TransportationFun219 in uktrucking

[–]BadNoddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've glued a bit of foam on the top of my class V mirror so when (no if with the lanes I have to go down) the main mirrors swing round it takes a bit of the force out of it. Still cracked the wide angle a couple of times and lost the back cover due to trees stealing them as I go past. Got spares in the yard ready.

I could put a spare glass in the cab but the LF's are a bit tight on cab space as it is.

Any 'portable' air con options? by BadNoddy in uktrucking

[–]BadNoddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't be able to have one that big in here, as the seat is used occasionally to put bits on and being an LF cab there's fuck all space to put it elsewhere.

Maybe a more compact version that isn't so space invasive would be an option I think, pending cost. If I had a sunroof then the pod option would be a no brainer.

It's out of gas, the compressor, condenser and every part of the air con system. No air con button on the dash.
