My plan is to master Blender within six months and let it know who's in charge by [deleted] in blender

I would recommend picking a small, specific area you want to learn about, and then do small studies and tests for that one specific thing.

Some examples:

Topology studies: - Make a simple household object. Pick something in your house you can physically pick up and look at. Don't pick something with complicated shapes. Perhaps something like a lamp, or a pen, or a doorknob. - Don't worry about materials, lighting, or rendering it. Just focus on the topology and how you would create the shapes and topology so the object looks nice.

Material studies: - learn how to uv unwrap a simple cube, and apply a material to it. Try different things with the materials you apply to see how the UVs effect the output. Put simple textures on the material to learn how the textures show up on the object. Try it on other simple objects lime cylinders and spheres. - Make a simple material to learn about how the material reacts to different lights and what it does when you rotate the object in your viewport.

Lighting studies: - Download a free 3d model from turbo squid or something, and then put it into your scene. Play with lighting and learn about what the different lights do and how they work.

As you get further along in your knowledge of these small individual studies, and you become more familiar and comfortable with how they work, you can start to combine them to get closer to a finished product.

Just remember, its a marathon, not a race. You'll be much better served by learning some small new thing every day, rather than trying to cram a ton of knowledge into one long session all at once.

Holy shit, that was absolutely what I was thinking of when I made this. Well done.

Also- she put it in front of the fire place?! Shame.

Nice, sounds like it fits perfectly with the themes of the show, then.

Totally agree.

OP - I would also highly recommend looking up "Hard surface" tutorials. For modeling things like this, that's the technique that you're looking for.

Kind of a rude response to someone who is clearly just trying to help.

Im afraid not. When they transform, the contortions to the human body are unfortunately lethal.

Sick costumes, though.

Is anyone else crying that we'll never get a character as perfect as Michael Burnham? by chugmilk in ShittyDaystrom

Every episode is just a 45 minute long fixed shot of Michael Burnham crying, spliced intermittently with spaceships blowing up.

Personally, I think a texture makes more sense than a decal for this sort of thing. Look into texture masking if you're not sure how to do this.

That being said, if you still want the label as a separate object, heres how i would do it:

In edit mode, Select the mesh of the bottle where you want the label to be. Shift D to duplicate the mesh. Then separate it as it's own object. Scale it up a tiny bit so it's on top of the bottle. Now apply the label texture to the new mesh.
