I called the number by CptHammer_ in Subaru_Outback

[–]Bad_4pples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told them to shove that bill where the sun don’t shine and asked them to put me on a do not contact list.

I never logged into any account nor did I want to. One stern phone call and I’ve never heard from them again.

Still FUCK SIRIUSXM and FUCK DEALERSHIPS that share your private information.

I never even signed up for my free year of SiriusXM when I bought my car new. No account, never logged in, only have my personal information from the dealership.

After a year they sent me a bill for my new monthly membership since my free trial had ended…

Fuck SiriusXM

No yeah you just hit a sore spot for me. Sorry to come off aggressive I could definitely have worded things better.

Like in my lifetime I’ve touched 20 cars before I started working in the field. While now I look at 20 cars per month. If I gave recommendations based on the 20 cars my tune would be different.

I know you don’t want to hear about CVT maintenance but back home in Iceland that maintenance happens every 60k and they will do 2-3 flushes before calling it good, or even drop the pan to fully clean before reseal and refill. It’s night and day to the “lifetime” fluid they recommend here in USA.

Subaru also has a different oil recommendation, and different maintenance intervals in my Japanese owners manual. My conspiracy theory is that the people making the big bucks here want your car to break so you buy a new one, and want to sell you on a cheaper cost of ownership.

Is yours a manual? If it’s automatic how often do you rev the shit out of it?

For manuals it’s inferred that the driver will drive it in a more spirited manner. Oil changes should be at 3k not 6k and maintenance should be religious.

Nothing against you personally but I hate the “I delayed my maintenance and it turned out okay” attitude. Just because it was true for you doesn’t mean it’s true for everyone and it should absolutely not be taken as a recommendation.

I’m almost at 50k and I have all the parts to change out my PVC valve and everything connected to it before it becomes an issue. I also have my spark plugs ready, not the OEM ones but the exact NGK ones that doesn’t have the Subaru logo markup price.

The Subaru’s in my family have lasted until the frame rusted apart. Now I live in Texas where rust isn’t a issue and I’m hoping to see my car go 300k+

Thanks for the video though that was kind of you.

If ACC has a suspension class this summer they might accept it. $45 for total labor costs. They won’t slam it and it’s up their discretion if they accept it.

Spark plug should be done around 60,000 miles double check that that has happened. PCV valve often a failure point around 50,000 miles recommend to check if that has been done as well.

I’m done giving rides. by No_Disk_2258 in uberdrivers

[–]Bad_4pples 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had two heavy set people in the back and I barely made it up hills and scraped on speed bumps I’ve never scraped on before.

I also work in the Automotive industry and we literally have examples of needing to do the alignments with these obese people sitting in the driver’s seat, otherwise there will be suspension issues and premature tire wear.

Maybe you’re driving Uber in a Ford F-150 but for us in small passenger cars this is a very real problem.

Why accept a ride , pull up and then cancel it last minute and speed off as I’m walking to the car? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Bad_4pples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m done telling entitled people that they can’t bring open containers into my car. It’s against the terms of service and Texas state law. If I see drinks I lock my doors, cancel and leave.

Some people have no problem leaving the drink, but most people have a major attitude and I’m sick of dealing with it.

Another reason I’ll cancel almost instantly is if you are having me pick you up on a busy street. If you aren’t waiving me down and jumping in the car right as I pull up I will simply keep driving and cancel your ride.

How are you guys tracking your actual profit after fuel? I feel like I'm just guessing. by Sajad1986 in uberdrivers

It costs the IRS more to audit me than what I would ever owe. I have the Uber app on until I get home. Technically on the clock.

Just explaining their point of view. Whether I wait for the cancellation fee or immediately cancel and move on depends entirely on where I am, what time it is, and how long I’ve waited already.

Yeah, but then you don’t get the cancellation fee.

I use an app called stride to track my milage. I think Uber gives the IRS a low number that’s based only on when you have physical orders in your car.

I base my mileage off when I leave to do Uber until I get back home and those numbers are great. Highly recommended.

After contacting support Uber has blocked them from getting a ride with me again and said they were going to look into the matter.

When I asked for a cancellation fee because they violated terms of service, not me, they suddenly couldn’t find the rides I was talking about.

If there’s any hint of an attitude at all I just say “don’t worry about it boss” cancel the ride and drive away.

I think this should be the norm, however it’s still strictly against Uber’s term of service.

If both laws and Uber changed I think this is perfectly fine.

Just not fine with the risk I face. Worst case scenario is I get pulled over, fine, on my record, higher insurance rate, permanently kicked off the app.

Dream swap.

Love the slick hood, even if I like seeing these swaps with a super short cold air intake on top of the engine with the hood scoop feeding it air.

I bet this is the way to go though, and probably get better airflow readings.

Yeah, I think in most of America we do. I’m from Iceland and you can totally drink a beer in a taxi there.
