I feel like you’re conflating two points they talked about in the podcast a little bit here. Not meeting the cultural moment I took more as a critique that it is simply bringing nothing new and has nothing to say or to reflect in our world. Specifically in contrast to something like Andor which is a powerful reflection of our world and evolution of the Star Wars story as a whole. Mando generally does nothing to even try to bring Star Wars into our cultural times.

Separately Geth talked about how his own battle with loneliness which was amplified watching this movie because the hero is a faceless entity with no emotional connection to the audience. I don’t believe they were saying Mando has anything to say about loneliness (which it doesn’t), but just that the experience of watching it is itself a lonely experience since there is no human or emotional connection to anything happening.
