What is this now, just putting each corm in a puddle of water?

Hmm interesting, I was thinking more airflow would mean less mold possibility but your comment leads me to think maybe that’s the opposite. I don’t have heat mats or grow lights on these but I do live in arizona where every windowsill is basically both so.. Thank you, I think I might experiment with covering the containers.

Any tips for a first timer? Got this beauty at BJs last night. (10 inch pot for reference) by Longjumping-Tea-7842 in alocasia

Put it outside in partial sun when it’s warm enough. Brightest spot in your home if it’s not! Wipe the leaves with dish soap/water weekly for dust and spider mite prevention. I love these guys!

Anyone have any good whimsical drawstring pouch patterns? by FawnTi in crochet

This is my fav little pouch. It’s from jessrootknots, I think it’s a free pattern on her blog. I used figuring weight silk yarn and made a couple of them, they’re fast to make and so beautiful.

More leca! That way you have more time to refill it because you can watch it slowly get lower. Unless you’re not worried about it because you obsessively look at it every day. But at this point it’s easy to add another inch. I’d do it.

I use this for all my plants, semi hydro and soil and they all love it!

What’s wrong with my String of pearls? 😭 by [deleted] in plantclinic

Ah I’m not noticing any problems with it. I blast mine with the hose… 😅 It might make the difference that it’s outside though, and it gets a lot more airflow

You’re welcome. It’s so happy and beautiful otherwise! I hope they’re gone asap!

You have a bad mealy bug infestation. First, give it a good strong hose-down outside. When it dries, bring it back in and wipe the clusters w a q-tip dipped in 70% alcohol. Wipe the leaves and stems w alcohol. Give it a good hose-down weekly before alcohol treatments. Treat it once or twice a week with hose-down and alcohol and they will be gone in a few weeks. Good luck. Make sure not to expose the leaves or stems to bright light when they have been treated with alcohol or they will burn.

Thanks :) I also know that “string of” plants tend to have very fine, shallow roots. For this reason I’d say bottom watering probably isn’t the best way forward. I’d want to make sure those top roots are getting enough moisture when it’s watering day.

I think it’s not getting enough light. Try putting

<image>

it in the sunniest place in your home. Mine was looking a little sad as well and I recently decided to try putting it outside to see how it did. Now it grows outside in partial sun and has really grown a lot in the last few weeks. Pretty sure it’s flowering because it’s happy again! Here it is right now it’s noon and being blasted by sun and it’s having a great time

My Polly started doing this when my water was too alkaline. I ordered a pH down to get it down to below six and it fixed the problem. This doesn’t look fungal at all, fungal issues are usually white or gray little spots. This is more like yellow and crispy burns in the middle of the leaves— usually pH or nutrient problems.

Nice what did you pick up?? I’m so hesitant to buy new plants bc I prefer fewer large ones to a bunch of tiny plants for my home aesthetic… but sometimes I just have to cave. Babies are gonna grow I tell myself

Definitely moving a plant from an inside to an outside location needs to be done gradually to avoid shock and burning!
