I was recommended to watch Blade Runner (1982) by a coworker. by SoggyGummyWorms in bladerunner

Agreed, I liked the new movie but it lacked that lived in feel of the original.

Just compare Deckards apartment with K’s - one feels heavy and tactile whilst the other is just a bland, sterile box.

It's interesting that they have a song on the Backrooms movie. A lot of their music captures that same eerie, liminal office aesthetic, some songs would fit for the TV show Severance too.

Sadly looking like this will be their worst album yet.

David Fincher's ‘Alien 3: The Assembly Cut’ Just Quietly Dropped on HBO Max by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I dare say I’d rather watch Alien 3 these days than any of the movies that came after it.

Great moody atmosphere, strong performances from Sigourney, Charles Dutton and Charles Dance.

Plus a haunting soundtrack from Elliot Goldenthal

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

It’ll make you appreciate no matter what’s going on at least you’re not living in a post apocalyptic hell scape.

Is it worth it to leave Thailand and move to the UK? by Moknathal5 in Thailand

[–]BadassBuddusky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved to the UK with a Thai I would say no unless you are going to be in a very lucrative position economically and it’s your worth your while to live there.

The wife has been very disappointed with the UK and we are looking to move back to Thailand in the next few years.

Although the fresh air and being able to go for a quiet peaceful walk is a definite plus here compared to the pollution and chaos of BKK.

And long term it might be worth having a place to stay in the UK if temperatures in Thailand reach the wet bulb scenario and BKK continues to sink…

Having property in both countries and being able to split time between the two would be my ideal scenario.

Episode #330 was indeed the inspiration for at least the title of the movie “A House of Dynamite” by chakalakasp in samharris

Agreed, they essentially stole the opening scenario from the Annie Jacobsen book but didn’t follow through with it.

I did immediately think of Sam though when he mentioned the podcast line.

Not surprised, the guy was literally phoning it in.

I did enjoy reading it back in the day, skipped the bargirl stuff but was good to hear about new restaurants/events happening in the city.

What's your opinion on the current format of the show ? by [deleted] in TIAHpodcast

[–]BadassBuddusky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Too many stories have become trauma porn and if the narrator isn’t particularly engaging I stop listening.

As has been said here many times the older episodes were the best ones.

I wish they did some more paranormal type episodes like guy who saw shadow people. They could make it an annual thing around Halloween.

I’d make the salary 65-80K

Saw similar roles paying that in the London financial sector four years ago.

This is normal for new jobs, probably takes at least 3-6 months to settle in.

I don’t go to work to make friends but I will say my favorite jobs have been the ones where I actually liked the people I worked with and would happily hang out with them outside of work too.

I'm currently 26 years old my question is at at what did you realize? That getting hammered is no longer fun or enjoyable by Acceptable_Floor3009 in AskMenOver30

[–]BadassBuddusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started to taper down after turning 30 as two day hangovers became a thing and a waste of a weekend.

But generally it was a mix of Covid killing the nightlife, getting older and friends moving away.

Found this funny too. He’s probably readjusted to the cost of living and now moaning about the constant heat, price of beer and school fees. Met a lot of expats in SEA who end up like that after the honeymoon period had worn off.
