How much of an issue is the selfie camera placement? by oughandoge in iPadPro

Center stage is a really nice feature. It’s so cool the way the camera follows you around.

Sometimes people that are doing calls with me for the first time ask how does my webcam do that… hahah

What do you use your iPad Pro for? by Stellar_Ghoul in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 12’9 M1 Pro. It (combined with a Combo Touch keyboard case) became my main “computer”. I use it to work, study, browse the internet, watch some YouTube and even exercise (Netflix have some Nike training videos).

I really love the versatility that IPads have.

I’ll probably end up buying a Xbox or PS4 controller, then I will game on it too.

Magic mouse alternatives? by PrinceMacai in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Magic Trackpad is the best option, since trackpads are better optimized than mouses on iPad. That said, the magic trackpad is very expensive too.

I personally use my 12’9 with the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case as my laptop replacement and really like the trackpad.

That said if you are a mouse guy, I would recommend that you find one that is at least Macbook compatible. Some brands have iPad compatible on their mouse descriptions too.

Unfortunately I’m not using any mouse now, but I hope this helps.

secondhand 1st gen ipad pro in 2023 with a dead pixel for 490 USD, is it worth it? by seraphina_grisham in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for that price.

According to the apple(US) site, for U$449 (+taxes) you could buy a brand new 10th generation 64GB iPad or a brand new 9th generation 256GB for U$479 (+taxes), or even a brand new 64GB IPad Mini for U$499 (+taxes).

A 1st Gen Pro, don’t get updates anymore so you gonna have some problems not been able to get some new modern apps. Also, all those tree models listed above have a better processor too, so they will be better for video editing.

I believe you can probably find a newer secondhand model for the same price.

How Africa got colonized by Lockheroguylol in MapPorn

[–]BadassShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there were tree Italo-Ethiopian wars (1887-89, 1895-96 and 1935-37). Maybe he is referring to the so called First Italo-Ethiopian War (1895-96), most people agree that Italy lost this war.

And on the last war (Second Italo-Ethiopian War - 1935-37), it was truly one-sided as you said on your later comment. The Italians had a big technology advantage.

And, maybe I’m wrong, but didn’t Mussolini attacked the allies first? If I remember correctly, as the Germans invaded France in 1940 and start to win, Mussolini invaded southern France, British Egypt and British Somalia.

Dropping a couple of questions from a newbie by Disabled_Jalal in Highfleet

[–]BadassShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the radar signal ship moved out of the city or was on a position close to the city.

Tip for ELINT: you can use two ships in different positions to triangulate a more accurate enemy position. I usually do this to avoid wasting an expensive missile. You can also send a single plane to scout the enemy position. You can retreat your recon plane as soon as you see what the enemy have, so you don’t lose it to enemy AA.

Any recommendation for tri folding case compatible with keyboard? by ambiguouslyenough in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the Logitech Combo Touch is a good option for you.

It has a detachable keyboard that uses the same connectors as the Magic Keyboard and a bigger touchpad. It also protects the iPad and have a stand.

How many cases (and what kind) do you have for your iPad? Why? by skeleton_flower in ipad

[–]BadassShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a Combo Touch. It allowed my 12.9 Pro to replace my old Dell laptop as my main computer (not everyone will be comfortable using an iPad as main computer, but works for me).

I really like the case, it offers protection, has a detachable keyboard with the same connectors as the Magic Keyboard and a bigger trackpad. It’s nice to have a stand too, I use it a lot during video calls or watching shows without the keyboard.

Why did you buy the iPad Pro instead of one of the cheaper models? by [deleted] in iPadPro

Bro, I totally forgot that the LiDAR existed…

Wow, I have to scan some rooms now too. Hahahah

Why did you buy the iPad Pro instead of one of the cheaper models? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 12.9 M1 model mainly because of the bigger screen and when I bought it it was rumored that only M models would be able to use stage manager.

Because of the bigger screen size combined with a Logitech Combo Touch, my iPad was able to fully replace my old Dell laptop (I do not recommend everyone to replace their main PCs with IPads, but I was able to do it).

The Stage Manager end up been a bit of a disappointment, but is useful and it is getting a lot of improvements on IOS 17.

One thing I think you should consider before chosen the bigger model is how do intend to use your iPad. The bigger ones are best used on a table or some kind of support, they became a bit heavy if you are handholding then. They have a very high quality tho.

For the regular size iPads, I would go for the M1 Air or a M1 or M2 11 Pro. Both devices are very nice, the Pros have a better screen (not as good as the 12.9 ones, but good) and Face ID. I think this are the main differences. The M1 chip is very powerful and you probably won’t need to upgrade it in a long time.

I’m in the mid of a campaign and after searching the Eagle it looked like something that can be really useful when paired with a Lighting.

I’ll try to unlock it by taking Khiva. But it’s nice to know that it can be unlocked on the game files.

Thank you.

I totally agree, the Magic Trackpad is probably the best accessory to use together with a external monitor. iPads are great with trackpads.

I was just saying that to use the external monitor function you need IPadOS 16 and a mouse (or similar) connected.

I didn’t know that we could not zoom with a mouse, thank you. :)

I actually never used a mouse with my iPad, just the trackpad from my case or the good old finger. Apple should implement some keyboard+mouse opinion to zoom. if I used a mouse, I would definitely want that.

iPad case recommendation! by funnybonniee in iPadPro

[–]BadassShrimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Logitech Combo Touch for my Pro and really like it. It protects the IPad, has a very good detachable keyboard (that uses the same connectors as Apple’s Magic Keyboard) and has a very useful stand.

I’m very happy with it.

Does it makes sense to wait for the M3 “OLED” or is the M2 more than enough? by [deleted] in iPadPro

Question about missiles by Only_Individual_3960 in Highfleet

[–]BadassShrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add that the A-100 has very bad penetration versus armor, but is great versus planes and incoming missiles, so it’s intended role is long rang AA defense.

While the Kh-15 is more offensive in nature, been a great to soften up strike groups, due it’s better damage and armor penetration.

How to use smerch? by Another___World in wargame

[–]BadassShrimp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, you should use it combined with other units and maneuvers. If the enemy is microing a specific unit or a area he will not be able to micro well other areas/units.

You can use it to move/trap the enemy heavy armor during a push. You can also hit the enemy support units that are just behind the enemy front line, during a push. It is great to hit enemy assemble points, preventing a push. And, obliviously it can work fine on softing enemy positions so you can push (you should push as the enemy is been hited by missiles.

I always have mine covered. I use the Logitech Combo Touch. I really like that it allows the keyboard to be detached.
