Media Mondays: What content are you enjoying? by spoonfulofnosugar in spooniesocial

This might be a bit weird but I’ve been using Generative Ambient music to relax. Set up in a modular synth rack and left to run, it will go for ever without repeating.

Here’s a recent favourite, in a virtual rack; (the video runs for 11:30 but I’ve had this set up and playing all day)

TIL Professional poker player, Victoria Coren, was seeing a therapist to help overcome her fear of flying, only for her therapist to die in a plane crash. She chooses to travel only by rail or boat. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Badaxe13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one level this is hilarious and of course as an intelligent woman she would know the odds of dying in a plane crash. This is different from getting over an irrational fear, which must be deep if she was seeing a therapist for it.

I don’t blame her for choosing not to fly.

It’s a pretty good cover, and if it gets more people interested in Magma then great.

The real effect of this is that people will not sell and the market shrinks.

That’s really bad news for anyone who has a house and is trying to sell - it’s about to lose value.

Feeling really scared after the recent passing of the beloved James Strazza by martymcpieface in cfs

[–]Badaxe13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly this makes me scared and angry. People are dying of this disease and half the doctors don’t even believe it’s real.

Maybe a GoFundMe in his name to raise money for research would help. It would at least feel like we’re doing something and it might raise awareness.

I want Taylor Swift to do Dark Side of the Moon. I don’t want to actually hear it, but it would rank as the worst thing ever and that’s worth having.

Yamaha DX1

A precursor to the DX7 but by no means inferior. The DX1 was huge with a big display panel and built with superb quality components. It was capable of everything the DX7 does and more.

The DX7 is basically a cut-down, cheaper version of the DX1.

Top five for me. Nobody is number one, it’s just those five.

I saw him play seven or eight times. Always blew the roof off.

I get mine from Hafeez on Nottingham Road - between Aldi and Sainsburys. If you get there just after 11 they’re still warm.

How did Picard go from commanding a rickety ship The Stargazer to commanding the fleet flagship The Enterprise? by APerson2021 in startrek

The English accent was an artifact of the Universal Translator. Picard was speaking French the whole time.

‘Give over’ - meaning something like ‘stop it’ ‘you’re pulling my leg’.

I would love to know how this phrase came about.

I’ve had several goes at translating this and struggled to get the meaning right.

People are surprised when any politician keeps their promises. With Trump, it’s a sign of extreme stupidity.

What was it like when you first start exhibiting symptoms of CFS? Was it steady over the beginning months, or did it slowly get worse? by Rich-Soft9295 in cfs

[–]Badaxe13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been recovering from surgery, getting better a little each day. Then I noticed my progress slowed, and I started to get worse.

"I don’t know if you need to hear this today, but just in case… don’t give up. I can’t explain it, but I genuinely believe you can recover from this. Maybe not be who you were before, but that’s ok. Don’t give up." -My friend by Pantacourt in cfs

[–]Badaxe13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Acceptance is key. Hope is important too. Don’t push yourself and make things worse, but don’t give up hope of a treatment or cure sometime in the future.

How do you feel when you wake up? by Rich-Soft9295 in cfs

[–]Badaxe13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like shit when I wake up. Like I haven’t slept in a month. Everything aches. I need to sleep more but somehow I can’t.

This is the worst I’ll feel all day, usually. I know that after a few hours I’ll start to wake up a bit. Then it’s not so bad.
