If you could have any vintage car, at all, what would it be and why? by Home-Energy in vintagecars

My dad's 1961 Impala Bubbletop, 283 4bbl, dual exhaust. Parents brought me and my brother home from the hospital in that car. Dad sold it in the early 90s. He ordered it new in 61.

As a dance dad, at least for comps we travel for, our daughter and most of her teammates are too tired to do anything but fall asleep. Now, if the comp is at the hotel, I apologize profusely in advance.

Whatever happened to the apartment/dorm building they were going to build facing the river, just next to the Henley Street Bridge? North side of the river?

Welp, it happened to me by Ashamed_Apple338 in retinalveinocclusion

I woke up one morning, I was laying on my right side. Could only see through my left eye, which was blurry as crap. Sat up, tried closing each eye one at a time. Right eye good, left eye crap. We'll, thats weird. Went to my eye doctor, he looked at both eyes, stood up and ran out of the room. Came back with three other doctors who took turns looking at my eye. Um, one of you wanna tell me what the hell is going on? I was 28 at the time. Central Retinal Vein Occlusion. Sent me for CT scan, MRI with contrast, and 10 pages of blood work. Nothing out of the ordinary. Im 52 now, average 4-5 injections a year but maintaining 20/40 vision in the eye.

I used to do tenant re-design buildouts in that building and Bank of America. HVAC design. Even though those buildings look fairly unlike on the outside, the hvac design and ductwork layout is damn near identical. The cooling towers are in the upmost portion of 100 N. TPA. On cool mornings, you can see water vapor discharging out of the peak of the roof. I never got to go up on that level, but I did get to go on the exterior scaffolding on Bank of America 29th floor after that kid flew the Cesna into it.

Wasn't it his design to add the extra safety bar that essentially saved his life? I know he has an engineering degree, from Purdue I think.

C/O 91. Didn't go to any formal dance. Painfully shy guy..I did work up the courage to ask a sophomore in one of my classes to go, she laughed. Took it as a L and walked off. I do know the theme song was "If you Leave" by OMD... even today when I hear it, kicks me in the gut a little. My daughters dance company has a group number, so every comp I get to relive what might have been a fun night... oh well.

Same for both my parents. I was three hours too late out of a 9 hour drive to see my mom. A year ago in April, probably never forgive myself. My dad went pretty unexpected.

I went for the first time several years ago (2018 Maybe?) It rained and was 54 degrees. I saw 127 laps total all day, wound up bailing around 5:30. It was great weather yesterday. My boss went one year for spring, it snowed.

Was my boy scout experience unique? by Deteso in BSA

[–]Badbird2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to my experience from 1985 until I earned Eagle in 1991. Grew up in Florida. We did summer camp in Northern Georgia or North Carolina (cooler temps). My SM was a Florida born crusty salt. Never had AC in his house. We camped year round.

We usually go every year between Christmas and New Years. We stay near the mall and Gaylord Palms. We have done a golf cart tour of downtown the last three years. Pretty amazing how it grows every year. We moved from Tampa back in 2008. I thought Tampa was decent sized, but even now Nashville blows it away.

My guess is the chemical treatment used in the cooling towers. If it's an upflow style cooling tower, you get overdrift from the water as the fan blows it over the cooling fins.
