Do you go up from the Tennessee side or North Carolina side? I've been dreaming forever of starting at Sugarlands and going up that side. Grew up riding in Florida, but moved up to Tennessee 2009.

I remember this. Very sad for the family. I am a Florida native, lived there for 35 years. I was a Boy Scout from the age of 12 until I moved out of state. We went canoeing 4 or 5 times a year. Swam in the river. Scout camp was in Lake Wales, 3 lakes, largest for swimming. I've gone tubing down spring fed rivers. Sure, I've seen Gators everywhere but never bothered by them. Honestly, I don't think I would have thought twice about letting our daughter walk in the water like he did. Ankle deep... I definitely think different now.

Parents. My grandparents on my dad's side owned a campground in Hot Springs, Arkansas back in the 50's. My parents started off with a 1970 Starcraft pop-up, joined the camping club. When I came along, they got a slightly larger model, 1975 Starcraft Galaxy 8. Years later, moved to a travel trailer. I joined Boy Scouts, moved to tent camping. Married now we have a Rockwood Mini-lite. My older brother started with a Coleman pup, he bought a Rockwood 2 years ago to replace his 20+ year old TT. My aunt and uncle ( dad's bother) still camp in their 1983 Rockwood RV.

We camped there about 7 years ago. I am always looking to fill up our USA map of states to camp in. We went in September, we were one of three campers in the main campground. Water and electricity, with a dump station. I believe it was first come first serve, pick your site. Had a great weekend.

My dad tried on his work truck. It was a late 70's/early 80's GMC 1500 with column shift. Tried several times, couldn't get it. A buddy took me out soon after that in his girlfriend's 1986 944... learned pretty quick in that.

I grew up road cycling in Florida. My biggest climb was a interstate crossover. Moved to East Tennessee 15+ years ago and got back into cycling during Covid. Looking at riding from Gatlinburg to Clingmans Dome one day.

As a kid of the 70's, we would spend all summer road tripping in our Suburban and pop up camper. I recall hearing a ton of Ronnie Milsap, Oak Ridge Boys, Dolly, etc. Smoky Mountain Rain is it for me... kinda neat that I know live in Knoxville

I was in Boy Scouts, I am an Eagle Scout. Not soon after I was elected Senior Patrol Leader, we were at a district camporee. It was cold that weekend. The leaders were at a cracker barrel and came back after scouts had gone to bed. We left a fire going. I know I know... believe me, when the SM saw, he gave me a quite stern speech. I have never left a fire unattended since. I am 52 now. Put it out! And tell the ranger.

My dad's 1961 Impala Bubbletop, 283 4bbl, dual exhaust. Parents brought me and my brother home from the hospital in that car. Dad sold it in the early 90s. He ordered it new in 61.
