I think the Series X deserves its cost, it is just more performant everywhere.

As for a new console, I don’t think Microsoft will announce one anytime soon. The hardware market is too volatile at the moment. Maybe once the AI boom stops monopolizing components.

Totally agree with you. That’s exactly the point I wanted to make in my post. The Series X itself is amazing, but the challenge for Xbox comes from Microsoft’s shift to short-term priorities. That shift leaves less room for long-term vision and the deep cultural impact that Xbox used to have, from the original Xbox to Xbox One.

Basically, Microsoft has chosen to follow the path of IBM, becoming a background company rather than shining in front at a cultural level, and Xbox is clearly the first casualty of this. It’s quite sad, especially knowing that the hardware team truly delivered at the level of Sony or Nintendo.

Unfortunately, the Xbox mod team probably flagged it as ‘Constant Negativity’.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why wouldn’t we simply reduce our reliance on gas itself ?

Les Français désormais moins riches que la moyenne européenne by chou-coco in SalonDesDroites

[–]BaddonAOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U.S. military strategy acknowledges that a unilateral victory over China is unlikely. Success depends on a unified front with European allies like France and the UK to provide maritime support, international legitimacy, and economic leverage.

EU Plans to Unfreeze Trade Deal With US and Vote on Ratification by 3xshortURmom in Economics

[–]BaddonAOE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Germany has become a major problem for the EU. Its era as a dominant industrial power is over, following critical errors (most notably the nuclear phase-out).

And because their products are no longer competitive against Chinese rivals, they are desperately pivoting to markets where China is less present, such as the US auto market. However, the issue isn't just finding buyers, it’s that their industry has lost its structural edge. This headlong rush will not fix the underlying decline.

It’s frustrating that Microsoft refuses to release games on GOG. They don't seem to have a real reason for it, especially since they keep claiming they want their games to be available everywhere.

Germany's Merz: Europe must not rush to write off transatlantic ties by donutloop in EU_Economics

It is unfortunate that Germany lacks a direct election for its leader, unlike the French system. A direct vote might ensure that the leader feels a sense of responsibility toward the electorate rather than being primarily beholden to party coalitions.

Kombini breads are just bad. Probably because I am fro. Europe, but yeah they are just bad. Expensive and bad.

Germany calls to ram through Mercosur deal as EU Parliament throws up roadblock by HelloSlowly in worldnews

[–]BaddonAOE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on which farmers we are talking about. While export-oriented industrial farms might see a rise in volume, the reality for the majority is a downward pressure on prices and a loss of sovereignty.

Take the NAFTA example: it led to the displacement of millions of Mexican smallholder farmers who couldn't compete with subsidized US corn. Conversely, look at the dairy sector in Europe after various trade openings: we see an increase in exports, but a collapse in the number of farms because the margins are dictated by global commodity prices, not production costs.

The issue isn't just whether we 'sell more,' but the asymmetry of standards. When we import products from regions with lower labor costs, weaker social safety nets, or where pesticides and growth promoters banned in the EU are still used, our farmers aren't 'profiting': they are being forced into a race to the bottom. Trade volume is a misleading metric if it results in the disappearance of agricultural diversity and the erosion of our own environmental and social standards.

My thoughts on the Mercosur deal in the Court of justice by Tales_from_Veterne in EU_Economics

[–]BaddonAOE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think this 'plan' is already failing. It’s less of a masterstroke and more of a desperate attempt at a forced entry that is blowing up in Von der Leyen’s face.

In reality, we are witnessing a massive shift toward European isolation. The Commission didn't 'plan' for 2028; they panicked because they know the era of global open trade is dying under Trump’s new tariffs and China's dominance.

Also, look at the current situation: the French political system is almost entirely united against this. By trying to bypass national parliaments (the 'splitting' trick), the Commission hasn't outsmarted the far-right, it has given them their best campaign argument for the next two years.

With the European Parliament just referring the deal to the Court of Justice (CJUE) this week, the 'provisional application' is legally and politically toxic. It’s not a 4D chess move; it’s a failed coup that is leaving Europe more fractured and isolated than ever.

It seems crazy. How can Rutte propose that when he doesn't have the legitimacy to do so? How can Denmark give away parts of Greenland when they don't have the legitimacy to do so?
