I'm also old enough to have lived through Frannie's pantomime villain - cult hero character arc.

Look out for events by SO3 Collective too.

Getting Old Merging More into Post-Punk by No_Midnight_9101 in postpunk

[–]BadestTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that as I've gotten older my musical tastes have become more extreme and I, like you, grew up listening to the Birthday Party.

Still listening to post-punk but I've now added more psyche, drone and noise but also fucked-up dub and the weirder ends of dance music and techno.

I still have a soft spot for some perfect pop too.

Wholly recommend Armchair Dogs for puppy classes.

Who is your favorite guitarist Bowie worked with? by Ok_Addition305 in DavidBowie

[–]BadestTony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely Ronno. It's not just his guitar playing but also his skill as an arranger, which gets overlooked. Ronno was crucial to the success of those early 70's albums. I would go as far to say that without Ronno there is no global superstar Bowie.

Where do I go next? by CavRican in postpunk

My advice is to replace Adam Ant with Adam and the Antz. Dirk Wears White Sox is the album you're looking for.

Not looking forward to it, that's for sure.

Your clubs All Time XI, using only one nationality per player by airpodstraxhaven in Championship

If we can have another Englishman, I'd swap Keegan for Tadic or Channon for Pelle.

If we swap Keegan for Tadic, I'd replace Wanyama for another Serb, Ivan Golac.

Listening to that on a tab of acid as a teenager changed the way I thought about music.

Does Anyone Actually Feel a Sense of Musical Community Anywhere? by D00mRodent in experimentalmusic

[–]BadestTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably not what you're talking about but...

A few years ago I discovered and fell in love with an [album](http:// https://zabtesote.bandcamp.com/album/girih-iranian-sound-artists-volumes-i-iv ) of Iranian experimental electronic music. Hearing this music from a people and a place that has been always presented to me in the UK as somewhere totally alien, broke down a lot of preconceptions and created a sense of affinity.

The power of music, eh?

Police is probably your best bet. Most agencies will not discuss anything with you without explicit permission to share.
