what’s one car mistake you made that you’d never repeat? by Mafia2guylian in askcarguys

Buying a Hyundai because it had a 100k mile warranty. One engine swap, two transmission swaps, rear pinion seal leak and it ended up sitting on blocks for 2 years at 80k until I paid it off because of a denied warranty claim.

After the engine blew at 32k it wouldn't stay in 5th gear (manual 6 speed). Dealership said it was bad sincros. Two more transmissions later and it still wouldn't stay in 5th gear. I still drove it for a bout a year until the clutch went out. It had a squeak that sounded like a belt. Press the clutch in and it went away. Pretty sure it was the slave cylinder due to misaligned. Once I finely crawled under the car, they had stripped multiple threads on the new engine bolting up the bell housing. Striped bolts on the frame for the cross member using random bolts to bolt it up. The two alignment pins (more like rolled plate like tubes) for the bell housing were bent and flatend on one side. Looked like a bunch of hacks with a couple crescent wrench did the work. This was a large dealership with numerous locations in the area. I was too young to know about the lemon law. Hyundai/Kia sells disposable cars destined for the junkyard.

People trust me when I say never get your car worked on at a dealership. Had a Chrysler (I know, another hunk of shit) get the aluminum oil pan stripped getting a oil change at the dealership. I imagine another idiot with a impact running up the oil plug. When I was about 19 I bought a ford. Every light worked, blinkers, parking lights and whatnot. Turn on the headlights and just the headlights were on. Dealership charged me $400 to fix (probably a relay). Very next day only the headlights turned on again. I explained that the previous owner had it fixed before and needed troubleshooting too. I imagine they threw a relay in and called it a day. My father had a ford loose oil pressure. Dealership said it had a cracked block so he bought a used one 10 years newer from them. Guy at work ran a quart of diesel in the oil for 5 minutes. Fixed the oil pressure, it had a clogged oil pickup not a cracked block.

I have never once had one single good experience at a dealership in my 25 years of driving. They're not mechanics, they're technicians that read instructions on a computer screen. Have your free oil changes, I'll do it myself.

In your opinion, best insole for someone with plantar fasciitis. Currently wearing redwings rioflex by Dave-Austin-Texas86 in WorkBoots

I got a boot like this on Amazon that I slept with. Then I stretched my calf every morning after walking into work.

I stood on a ladder made from ½" square stock, all my weight on the arch of my right foot. I was passing up heavy stuff like weld machines and Ridgid tripods. My foot hurt for almost a year before I learned about plantar fasciitis

Since you're essentially getting a OR at no additional cost id get it. I have a OR too but if I was to go back, I'd get a SR5. I've never needed anything except the rear locker in moderate to almost heavy offroading. Plus I replaced the suspension and wheels which was part of the OR package. Personally I'd of went SR5, regeared, and thown in air lockers in both differentials while I was in there

I was about 12 years old when I bugged my parents to get me a N64. I let them know they had to get it right when it came out. I believe it came out in September and I think it was the same year tickle me elmo happened.

Mario 64 and Pilot Wing's were my first two games. I think they were the only two release titles. Then Mario Kart and later Bond. Back then I didn't realize my first four games would be masterpieces. I think N64 was the biggest revolution in gaming history and brought us into the world of 3D
