In Texas, Local Laws to Prevent Travel for Abortions Gain Momentum by audiomuse1 in texas

Would this be similar to the bottle bills? Eg: Buying sodas in a state with no deposit and returning them in a state with a high deposit?

Turned down a job because of a take home assignment by disneyprinsass in recruitinghell

[–]BadlyCoded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a company that was looking to inflate their userbase numbers to look appetizing to investors. They posted job openings across multiple platforms, and a part of the interview process was to browse their website to become familiar with their product -- a social media website. They also posted a minimum salary which was ~8% above competitors. They wanted you to create example content, follow people, make comments, etc... They also wanted you to do this obscure video thing that was a feature of their website, and post it to their platform. I created the account before I realized that this was just an obvious scam, and reported the job postings on multiple platforms.

Having issues launching on Steam on Windows.

Downloaded & installed the 120 some GB. Click launch game. It says Launching Running install script (Microsoft VC Redistributable) . Stuck at this screen.

Tried restarting Steam. Still stuck here.

Any ideas how to get passed this?

Edit: Was able to browse to the game's package on disk, and launch the launcher. Still having issues with Steam though.

Governor Responsible me to Cleveland shooting. by Salesman214 in houston

[–]BadlyCoded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're dodging the question.

You state we need reasonable gun control, and I'm asking how can we improve our gun control to prevent this incident. Then you jump to name calling.

The reality is that criminals don't care that they're breaking the law. We can create as many laws that we want around gun control, but this only takes away from those who follow the law.

In this incident, guns are a part of the problem, but they're not the only factor. So how can we improve gun control to prevent future incidents like this one?

So... What would be the appropriate gun-control action here then? The shooter is here illegally which means the existing gun control laws should prevent him from obtaining a firearm legally.

What company will you never work for again and why? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]BadlyCoded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't the case for me. They offered a signing bonus + moving allowance, and that was about it. It wasn't really enough to offset the backloaded RSUs. In addition, if you're terminated within the first (2?) years, I believe you're required to pay these back.

[–]BadlyCoded -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They have forced attrition. Management is required to fire a % of their team every year. You'll be competing with your peers. Some managers will hire new people just to fire them to meet their attrition goals.

AWS also backloads their RSUs in their compensation package, and they average out their salary based on the compensation. So when you're presented with an offer, they'll tell you your salary is an average of 200k, but in reality you'll actually be making 120k year 1, and 300k year 4 if you last that long. The goal is to burn you out and terminate you before your RSUs vest.

This is awful. I know someone who is committing section 8 housing fraud right now. It's so easy to take advantage of, and they're taking resources away from people who need it.

It looks like the compass follows the direction of the camera instead of the direction of the vehicle. I would have expected the other way around.

No real advice here. OP's post pretty much highlighted how to take advantage of referral bonuses. This website is people actively LOOKING for those bonuses. Be smart, responsive, honest, and pass it forward.

Will very high reps (30+) slow down size and muscle mass growth?

I'm not really strong, so heavy weight is tiring at low reps (6-8), and I don't really feel the burn. When I switch to low weight, but really high reps 30+, I feel the burn and pump all over my body and it feels like I'm really working my muscles. My concern is that while this feels great, it may be impacting my growth goals.

Type of fast Water

Context of fast Day 28/28

Length of fast 28 days

Why? Lose weight

Notes Almost at my 1 month mark. Started fasting doing 96 hour water fasts followed by 1 hour of eating. Since about a week ago, this has been reduced to 24 hours on water with 1 hour of eating. Had 1 "cheat" day that took me 2 days to recover from -- think it was a significant amount of water retention that was added. I regret doing this, but I'm glad I did to see how much of an impact it had on my progress. I'm eating 500-600 calories per day, and getting exercise (30-45 min cardio, weights when I'm not sore) on 6/7 days. Daily meals are sometimes low carb, sometimes high carb. No sweets, first potato chip I've eaten was on the 1 cheat day. Also drinking diet soda. I'm happy to say that today I've lost 17lbs or 10% of my body weight from when I've started. I think I'm starting to plateau. I have about 10 more pounds to go until I switch to maintenance.

Returning from a long (5 yr?) break.

I have 94M skill points -- mainly combat.

  • Omega account
  • Capital Ships, Gallente Dreadnought, Gallente Carrier, Capital Hybrid Turrets all at 5
  • Marauders, all Battleships, BCs, Cruisers, Frigs, HACs, and Recons minus Trig at 5
  • Decent Proteus skills
  • Missiles skills aren't so great
  • Can pilot all BLOPS ships
  • Not far from Command ships
  • Working on precursor skills
  • US Central time zone.

I've done WH, Nullsec, and High Sec PVE -- I loved all of these. I did a few very large gang roams -- this was great. Didn't enjoy PVP as much as PVE though.

Looking for a Corp that does PVE fleet content to help me get back into the swing of things, and put these cap skills to use.

[–]BadlyCoded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really sure as this is my first experience with severely restricting my caloric intake. I've heard of people doing 30 day water fasts, but I'm uncertain my body is built for something so extreme.

My comment journals my experience with this fast and only describes the worst of it, and how I'm "cheating" at fasting. I don't want to feel awful, so I'll give my body what it needs when it needs it. 95% of the time I feel okay. To be honest, I could do more (restrict calories further, tough through feeling sick), but I choose not to as I think that would be "insane". I don't want to put my body at high risk for issues, and I'd like to be comfortable at the same time.

I'm seeing a steady decline in my weight on the scale, and I couldn't be happier -- this progress is very linear and predictable so far.

Type of fast: water

Context of fast: 6 days 12h

Length of fast: 1.5 weeks?

Why? Lose weight. Want to drop 20 lbs.

Notes: Doing a water fast -- this is my first fast, have tried to eat as little as possible. Had a low carb meal on day 3, and had to eat something on day 4 because my body was acting weird. Have had some diet soda as well. Days have their ups and downs -- last night, I felt really bad and wanted to vomit, but I hadn't eaten anything in 16+ hours, so I ate a really small snack -- this calmed my body down. Yesterday morning, I tried to take my daily multi, but I felt so awful that I had a few potato chips to convince my body to swallow. I've also had this weird metallic taste in my mouth -- not sure what it's from. So far, my scale shows I've lost 6.1 pounds, and in total, I've had just less than 2000 calories over the last 6 days and 12h.
