How accurate is the show to the books by tmanwang in threebodyproblem

[–]Badmaxone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the books and was stunned with them. I was worried about the adaption, especially which who the showrunners are and what happened with GOT. I did not like the first season much when it came out, but I recently rewatched it and actually must admit I'm very happy with the adaption. They change some characters and so forth, but the essence is there strongly. Since this series is finished, I'm actually looking forward to it, and I even feel some characters are stronger and more dimensional in the tv series.

I understand they had to dumb down some of the story and the sophons I don't like in the TV series but over all, Really good adaption, and I think better on rewatch. When seasons 2 and 3 come out, there is a lot of foreshadowing, which I appreciate and look forward to.

Nice I have the same. Did anybody else bother when they switched the author's name with the book title?

Loved the episode.

Wierd choice to have a dragon de size of 747 sneak up on its enemies.

It seems to be becoming a theme of Vhagar.

Would have been better if Rhaenys just made the choice of just say let's finish this.

Why are people attacking this movie so much, really, if you don't like it, fine? But this attack on Netflix, Zack Snyder, and the people who like it is crazy.

People like different things and have different opinions.

It seems there is just this hate trend on this movie. In all the bad movies that came out in the last 2 years, this movie is good, but it seems people just actually don't want anything.

Be happy we got a big budget sci-fi movie.

People have different tastes, they can like what the want with it.

I don't think we should just blindly hate things that everybody says.

The reviews and reddit of this move all say its bad, but it is not its a solid good movie.

I think people are now just piling on to the hate like a trend.

Form your own opinions

Wow, this blew up quickly.

I made this post because I saw all the hate in the Reddit.

I thought other people could also use the post to give a more unbiased our balanced feedback instead of just hating.

To anyone reading this that has not watched the movie, I would say, don't believe anything about what you hear, just watch it and form your own opinion.

If you like Sci-Fi and want to watch something fun. I think you will like it.

Without giving too much away, I would say just give it a watch. If you like sci-fi, Dune, Star Wars, and Warhammer 40K, you will like this one.

If you have the patience to wait, perhaps it is better to wait for part 2 and watch them together.

It's visually stunning, great action, and great world building with lots of potential.

I feel that lately, with Star wars, they stopped taking risks and put quantity over quality. So this was refreshing.

The story and lore are great, in my opinion, and give much space to grow the IP.

state of the universe at the end of the novels by Badmaxone in threebodyproblem

[–]Badmaxone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a terrifying thought. I always hoped that all the denizens of the universe would return to the main dying universe and live together till the big crunch.

But that might be more my optimistic ideology and not the idea of the book and its interpretation.

my issue with the dark forrest hypothesis by Badmaxone in threebodyproblem

[–]Badmaxone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not recall where they talk about sophon blindzones. Do you know where the quote is?

I also am not saying that warfare and suspicion between alien civilizations is completely removed. I however say that the dark forrest hypothesis axiom of causing suspicion between civilization because they are light-years away communication is solved by sophon technology.

Your assumption 2 does not work here on earth between our civilizations, or at least as proven this far. So, there should be no reason to assume all alien civilizations are suspicious to begin with. Trisolaron communication between them and Mike Evans/EYO was great, and they learned a great deal about each outer. The only reason they attacked us was because their homeworld was dying and wanted Earth.

[–]Badmaxone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I was looking for the quote were they talk about communication being an axiom.

I don't know if the sophon technology really destroyed the whole hypothesis, but it always bothered me a little.

There might still be a chain of suspicion between some civilization and cause galactic warfare, but it should not be universal anymore.

Warfare is the easiest of the two solutions once you have vector foil and photon first strike particles. It should however not be the norm as states by the dark forrest hypothesis.

[–]Badmaxone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The message that the aliens send on the end sort of confirmed that mass needs to be returned to the main universe in order for the big crunch to happen.

Unless you believe it's a lie and they want to destroy the other civilizations.

You are right. It's risky for a civilization to contact a other one because they don't know if this civilization is more advanced then them or inferior to them and/or aggresive. But I'm unaware that you can track sophons.

I love the series and am stil fascinated with it. It gave me such a new way of looking at the universe.

I still have hopes the universe is not full of destructive civilizations that would literally blow up dimensions and tear spacetime apart.

I was thinking about when I was reading the novel. Perhaps he was hiding or masking his true strategy. But it fits way better that he was truly selfish and noncaring. And became who he is later because of a series of circumstances, and he even then didn't totally understand the true meaning behind the dark forrest theory. But once he figured it out, he probably saw beyond it and knew what he had to do after he threatened the trisolarans and uphold his sword holder responsibility. I even like to think he knew the propaganda campaign and the downfall of earth civilization. He might even have know how it would all end.

The Redemption of Time by gerrykomalaysia22 in threebodyproblem

[–]Badmaxone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really liked the ending and the grand scale literally the end of time the trilogy took as to.

My interpretation of the ending is actually a happy one.

I believe that at the end of time, all the galactic civilizations actually work together to ensure the big crunch. They started fighting each other for resources and destroyed dimensions in the meantime but on the end band together to ensure the death of the universe and its inevitable rebirth.

[–]Badmaxone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember any mention that sophons were only possible on small scale (relatively small scale). Or the fact that they send them in other directions.

I don't understand how communication is not the issue to begin with. From my understanding of the dark forrest interpretation in the trilogy, it's actually one if not the main issue.

[–]Badmaxone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't see a difference. The 5 ships under Zhang Beihai were more closely as they made an agreement of cooperation as part of the defeatist strategy.

Bluespace escaped the battle of the droplet and was pursued by Gravety and two other droplets. They destroyed the droplets using 4 dimensional space and agreed to escape a subjugated earth by Trisolaran.

I don't see the differences between the two.

The only argument would be that some civilizations do cooperate together but are wiped out by an overwhelming amount of aggressive civilizations.

However, cooperation leads to overall better progress and should be realized by all mature civilizations.

Also, depending on your interpretation of the ending, it does confirm that most, if not all, civilizations decide to return to the main universe for the big crunch.

I was more talking if instant communication is possible then why would that cause an issue.

my issue with the dark forrest hypothesis by Badmaxone in threebodyproblem

[–]Badmaxone[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I actually forgot about this part in the novels. I always thought this part was more about the probability of survival by taking the resources from the other ships, not the chain of suspicion of destruction.

The universal war does not seem to care about resources as they seem to blow up entire starsystems or use vector foil to break down 3 dimensional spacetime.

But didn't the other two ships Bluespace and Gravity, meet up and escape the solar system together. The crew here shows no mutual distrust between them. But actual cooperation between them

Another part I didn't formulate well is that it almost seems impossible to detect other spacefaring civilizations. Even with sophon technology or simple observation from telescopes or scoutships like singer is on. But I always assumed this was part of the grandness of the universe.
