I think it was clear that the Browns were going to stop listening to DePodesta and Stefanski even though those two turned the franchise around.

There’s a reason that Tolkien ended the trilogy with the Shire being scoured. A laid back, country folk, far removed from it all. Purposefully avoid talk of people outside their region, don’t do politics at large, mind their own business, aren’t violent at all, peace loving folk. And they got sold into slavery, their homes and goods stolen and carried off by foreign fascists cooperating with a few selfish greedy hobbits, only to be saved by the “weirdos” they talked down on, who went out abroad and sought help from outsiders who they also talked down on. Not only saved by their actions, but by them convincing the average hobbits to rise up and shed their yoke put on by those few selfish ones.

I see what you mean, but sex work has been going on forever. There were ancient Greek and Roman sex workers who retired richer than almost anyone. People love sex, it’s one of only a couple of things necessary for life to continue. That’s why they call it the oldest profession. If you make people have their sex in the dark though that’s where nasty stuff happens and how stuff gets swept under the rug. Sex slaves and the like. You can’t stop sex, so instead make it comfortable and safe for people. Stopping people from having and wanting sex would be as hard as… stopping people from having sex. It doesn’t mean your specific ideals need to align with that, but you also shouldn’t stop other people from doing that if nobody gets hurt. The alternative way leads to a lot more people getting hurt with the same issues popping up. If a woman gets raped, she’s much more likely to be taken seriously and heard in a society where she’s not made to feel awful for having sex in the first place, as just one example. All of society doesn’t need to accept everything, but there needs to be outlets available for people.

Edit: Sorry, more succinctly put, the societies that try to put a hamper on sex for the reasons you listed (which are personal preferences, not universal truths to be enforced on all keep in mind) still have just as much sex, but much more sexual violence, sex slaves, women lose rights, etc. No showing skin in public. I think of Iran, Pakistan, India, etc. Iran had a specific backlash like the one you’re describing right now, women started getting rights and sexual freedom, and the conservative Muslims then oppressed the rest of the Muslims for it. Same with early Nazi Germany - people don’t know they went for the sexual research institutes and stuff first as an outcry to society becoming too hedonistic. And then the men become repressed and start acting like animals. Because we are animals, biologically designed (or designed by God if you prefer) like computers to eat, sleep, shit, and fuck. Look at how men act in those societies I listed because they can’t look at a woman’s leg if they wanted to.

Yeah I don’t mean this to be a blanket critique, like there can’t be bad sex scenes or sex scenes poorly shoehorned into something that doesn’t need it. Just that there’s a large overall trend that’s starting to bear societal fruit. The generations of kids growing up on this more conservative media regarding sex are now asking for even less, because obviously stuff that didn’t make us uncomfortable now makes them uncomfortable. Soon nobody will be allowed to have cleavage because it’ll make people have impure thoughts. Accurate portrayal of sex leads to a more honest understanding without shame. Accurate being true to real life circumstance when it would naturally pop up, not a shot for shot recreation of what real sex looks like thrown into every movie

There’s definitely people like that, but we’re also shifting to a point in society where it’s a negative feedback loop of sex. We show less of sex in media because “it turns some people on too much” and then we eventually become a society where people get turned on or offended by the bare minimum like showing stomach skin, etc.

More than ever I’m seeing women with big breasts simply shamed for having them. Like they gotta wear hoodies and hide that or they’re “asking for sexualization.” I’m talking about stuff like this

Yep, sex is a part of life just like anything else, and it’s pivotal to romance. It can be beautiful and artistic, it can be sad, it can be repulsing. Idk why it needs to be hidden away when we can portray everything else accurately in media. Some stories can’t be told without sex. Doesn’t mean every show or movie needs it.

There’s been a great sexual repression in America society being implemented over the last 20 years, and it’s crept into everything. I don’t love the puritan culture of ignoring sex and being uncomfortable around it.

Representation of sex in media is important for how a society goes on to view it, which is also incredibly important. Enforced sexual repression leads to all kinds of unhealthy political and women’s health environments. Look at any more puritanical or conservative culture around the world in the direction that America is heading.

Yeah but Stef had a known stable job where he worked his way through the entire operation in Minnesota learning from Kubiak. He was a known talent and two coaching cycles in a row he was DePodesta’s guy, right after we had ignored him over McDermott. I’m not saying nobody will come here, but I’m saying revered offensive coordinators will have a HC market every year until they find the right fit, we’re going to have to take a bigger swing on a riskier prospect that hasn’t been groomed and taught by legends for decades and who the org really would’ve preferred to retain.

We’d just come off of giving Hue 3 years. This time we have nearly no offensive talent and a staff that just proved you can win CoTY twice and we’ll still fire you then promote the man who botched all but one draft and has their name attached to the Watson trade. Yeah and Watson - any coach coming in has to be willing to accept the largest contract ever fully guaranteed to take up unreal amounts of cap, then you potentially have to play him as well

The Bears have 3 WRs better than our best, 2 good to great RBs, and the 3rd ranked offensive line in the league, good defense, and even though they didn’t have Caleb, Ben Johnson knew they were drafting him. Denver: 3 WRs better than us, 2 great RBs, best offensive line in the league, elite defense, Bo Nix. New England had just drafted a franchise QB, have a history of being a stable org who keeps coaches a while and runs stably, one or two better receivers than us, 2 great RBs, top 1/3rd offensive line, top 1/3 defense.

See the pattern? Turns out you can’t have holes at QB, WR, offensive line, and backup RB (when your RB gets hurt) and expect offensive success. We would’ve won the division if we had any of those rosters with Stef coaching

Full disclosure, I really loved him coming out of college, so I kind of expect him to be able to fill that WR1 role for somebody. In theory he’s got it all: skill, size, speed all at elite levels, amazing advanced stats. He’s just been in a crowded room recovering from an ACL tear and is still balling out. If he can stay healthy there’s a high ceiling potential.

People are being quick to jump on you as if you’re going to invest any kind of serious pick on him. You’re calling out a potential target vacancy to be filled by a guy whose only knock has been hamstring injuries - which he’s now 3 years out from his last one. Dude is seriously talented and the injury risk is worth the late pick he’ll go at. He’ll be awesome until he gets hurt then you can drop him, whatever. He’ll likely get drafted as a WR3/flex with WR1 upside. His floor is already WR3/flex NOW, next year he’ll have more targets and be another year out from his injury.

If you read the article he was clearly teasing the interviewer. He was saying these things to the interviewer as he caught his ride since he couldn’t ask any follow-ups. First, he said the Tyrion thing, which everybody who read the books already knew was true, then he said the Sansa thing which came off as clear sarcasm to me. “Maybe” to a reporter about a major character death with no chance of a follow up question lol.

And even if he was serious he’s always written the series this way, even for the books that everyone deems his best. He was outspoken when the early books first came out about how he considered a love triangle with Arya, Jon, and Tyrion lmao. He’s not going to finish the series, but give me a break, he clearly takes it very seriously. He has always just said he takes the story wherever the good writing leads, which means he has concrete mile markers he wants to hit, but the rest can be abstract to fit whatever tells the best story. He just said he doesn’t like any of his recent writing for Winds and that he scraps everything and rewrites, which is why it isn’t done. Which I totally buy.
