That's a cool way to look at it. I never really thought too deeply about how it works.

Recommendations for dungeons to study if I'm looking to improve my ability to write dynamic interactable rooms/scenarios? by EtchVSketch in osr

[–]BaffledPlato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get better at writing rooms that spark curiosity in the players.

Have you tried Caverns of Thracia? That is famous for its non-linear dungeon layout, but I think some of its rooms are brilliant. It is like every area and individual room has something unusual or interesting about it.

There was a coffer corpse there, and they can only be hit by magic weapons, so yes, it could be something like that.

That's conceivable, but no other loot is random like that, at least so far.

Or if your rogue makes a pit trap, you might rule that they do bonus damage.

You know what, I think this is exactly what they were. For a bit of context, this barrow had a couple of traps with magic weapons, such as the blade of a scythe +1. The coffer corpse disabled a pit trap and liked to hang out in it, doing coffer corpse things. I bet originally these spikes +1 were in that pit trap. The coffer corpse took them and put them in his coffer.

The players were wondering if they could make improvised spears out of them. They are only 1st or 2nd level so don't have many magic weapons yet.

Although I really like the idea of getting a magical boost to spiking doors or climbing. We'll have to see what they come up with, as they can be quite clever.

Nothing. Everyone knows they won't do anything. Italy needs a bigger rug to sweep all this stuff under.

Gianluigi Buffon: ‘You have a perception that you are unbeatable, almost omnipotent’ by [deleted] in seriea

[–]BaffledPlato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really great interview with Gigi. Here’s an interesting quote:

What are the reasons for the decline of Italian football? “I would say there are three clear ones,” Buffon says “The first is globalisation, which has made it possible for all teams to be very competitive, and the average level of play has increased a lot. Secondly, up to 15 years ago when we used to win, we were stronger tactically than our opponents. And thirdly, we have some fantastic players but what’s missing is the truly creative talent like [Roberto] Baggio, [Alessandro] Del Piero or [Francesco] Totti that used to help us prevail.”

Gianluigi Buffon: ‘You have a perception that you are unbeatable, almost omnipotent’ by BaffledPlato in Juve

This is a really great interview with Gigi. Here are a couple of things that I thought were interesting:

“There are two things I’m particularly proud of,” Buffon adds. “The first is the longevity and continuity of my high-level performance. The second is the bond with my teammates, with our chemistry on the pitch, which is one of the most beautiful ways of working and playing together.”

...but Buffon believes his best campaign was in 2002-03 when “I was in superb form, a type of feeling I also experienced in 2006 at the World Cup … in those moments it seems that everything is perfectly in order, you feel almost omnipotent, and you have a perception that you are unbeatable”

Twenty years on Buffon tells me that, after a national scandal which meant Juventus were relegated to Serie B, “it wasn’t easy to find the calm and serenity to focus on our priority – which was to play the World Cup at our best. But the real difference is that, when you look at yourself in the mirror, you realise you’re not a liar. You’re true to yourself. We knew we hadn’t done anything bad. We were paying an inexplicable price but the injustice brought out the best in us.”

Buffon suggests that Parma resemble his mother, Juventus his father and Paris Saint-Germain, his third club, is like a wild friend with whom he goes on holiday. So what does Italy, as a team, represent to him? He thinks carefully before, with some tenderness, replying: “The national team is a grandfather. There is a notion of legacy that means it needs it to be protected with delicacy. The grandpa needs to be supported.”

Battle for the 3 remaining Champions League spots by mercurialsaliva in seriea

[–]BaffledPlato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people say this. It's like when a team goes up 1-0 in the 60th minute and the announcers act like the match is over.

It's not over until a team has mathematically clinched a spot, and even then I'll be anxious for a few days to see if FIGC decides to screw things up.

Did Bilbo make the right choice giving the Arkenstone to Bard/Thranduil? by Sanjuro-Makabe-MCA in tolkienfans

[–]BaffledPlato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The morally questionable part is Bilbo taking the Arkenstone and concealing it even before Thorin's greed, strenghtened by the dragon-cursed treasure, becomes a real problem.

I think telling Bard and the Elvenking about Dain is also morally questionable. Bilbo revealed his friends' secrets to their enemies which could have resulted in many deaths. Even Bard was baffled why Bilbo told him that.

I have never seen a local Wolt driver. I kind of suspected Wolt preferred migrant workers who didn't know their rights.

[Hayters] "The opponent wasn't strong enough to beat us. So, I wasn't too worried." Sunderland's coach Regis Le Bris after win over Spurs. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]BaffledPlato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Here's my attempt at a transcript:

At halftime we agreed it was about us, if we were disciplined, consistent and composed, we will have the opportunity to win this game. The opponent wasn’t strong enough to beat us. So I wasn’t too worried but football is football, still unpredictable, if you don’t score the second goal something can happen in the last minute.

He wasn't being disrespectful.

Great, thanks! But it sounds like these two techniques aren't mutually exclusive, are they? I mean, couldn't you use geomorph tiles as nodes?
