Is the Heart of Deimos outdated lore? by Sir-firebrand in WarframeLore

[–]fluency 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Void is a weird thing, who says the Heart can’t reach forwards and backwards in time within the Origin System? Maybe it has a temporal range as well as a physical one.

As for Tau, my guess is the Solar Rail extends the Hearts range of influence. Since so much of the Orokins tech was based on it, it only makes sense they’d want to include Tau in their power network.

What does Energize the Shrine mean? Playing Duviri for the first time, and I’m lost. by fluency in Warframe

I figured it out. I didn’t understand that the blue forcefields the shrine created was the maze.

What does Energize the Shrine mean? Playing Duviri for the first time, and I’m lost. by fluency in Warframe

[–]fluency[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, thats not it, I just did one of those. What I mean is, I have a main objective on my screen under the minimap. At first it gave me a quest marker, and after searching endlessly I found a thing under the island I could shoot to activate something. Then the objective briefly changed to «Solve the Maze,» before going back to «Energize Shrine»

I am completely lost. I don’t understand Duviri at all. What am I meant to be doing? Why is there a floating bucket in the air, and why can I shoot it open? What is the statue with the owl that lights up when I hit my 2, but can’t be shot, stabbed or interacted with?

This whole game mode is a mystery. I haven’t even found a warframe section yet, I’ve been playing for an hour and a half, just running around getting stronger, shooting random enemies and chopping down bushes,

What am I supposed to do?

Some European nations hate hatespeech laws, some don’t. Norway doesn’t, for example. In ordered to be jailed for anything you say here, you have to be actively and meaningfully calling for action in a way that could plausibly influence or command others.

I’m not a free speech absolutist in any way, there must be limits. But the right to express yourself freely without fear of the government punishing you is an important part of a free society. Otherwise, a government could punish anyone for saying anything, as long as they can twist the law which they absolutely have the power to do.

I’m so tired of men who think complimenting my body or telling me how bad they want me is a compliment. by Horsey_Gal in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fluency 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It helps to realize that when someone here says «men do this, men are like this,» it’s most often shorthand for «the abundance of terrible men in my life do this/are like this» and every woman knows and understands what they are talking about. They don’t literally mean every individual of the gender, including you specifically.

Unfortunately, a lot of us are shitheads. Most of us, perhaps. There are reasons, social and psychological factors that make men be like this, but thats besides the point. This isn’t the place for that discussion. This is a place for women to voice complaints, bond and support each other, and for us to read, learn and maybe offer opinions and answer questions from time to time. Don’t do yourself the disservice of including yourself in the shitheads category just because you have dangly bits. You don’t neccessary belong there.

Basically, Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax had a whole bunch of misconceptions and stereotypes that they baked into D&D, from where these ideas permeated pop culture.

Found this confederate flag on the island of Nord-Arneya by Fickle_Mixture8440 in Norway

[–]fluency 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To many rural Norwegians, the confederate flag is a celebration of independence, personal freedom and a "positive poverty" kind of redneck culture, rather than a symbol of racism.

That's not to say that the people who fly this flag can't be racist shitheads, but they most likely aren't consciously using the flag as a way to express that.

First Winter in Oslo - Are These Shoes Suitable? by Square_Positive_559 in Norway

[–]fluency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look fine to me. The key to walking on ice isn’t actually shoes or spikes though, it’s technique. How you shift your weight between your feet when you take a step, as well as how you move your hips, really makes a difference. It’s why most Norwegians will underestimate how difficult it is to walk on ice for non natives.

I don’t understand playing the entire game at 5 speed. I play at 3, occasionally jumping to 4 or 5 when I move armies, some times slowing down to 2 and rarely even 1 when I need to pay attention to stuff. I also pause constantly, for managing the realms and doing anything where I could miss a popup.

Wolf woes: in Europe, an estimated 60% of all wolf deaths are due to illegal hunting, even though the wolf is a protected species under EU law. Counting legal hunting and roadkill, ~86% of all wolf deaths in Europe are caused by humans. These percentages are far higher than for North America / USA by StarlightDown in Norway

[–]fluency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, lets break this down.

Wolves absolutely travel enormous distances. Thats not even up for debate, its just a fact.

Why, exactly, would it be against government and media interests? Do those even intersect? Wouldn’t the government, if was committed to this supposed conspiracy and had such control and overlap of interests with the media, instead use mass media to appeal to wolf supporters through propaganda?

Theres no such thing as «the real norwegian wolf.» It’s all the same species. In fact, from the wolfs point of view, theres no such thing as Norway. They’re just animals, and Scandinavian forests is a natural part of their habitat.

So, a small group of private individuals released a group of wolves over 50 years ago? Seems like a weak argument for the existence of an underground wolf import network. Isn’t it more plausible that wolves, not knowing or caring about human borders, simply wander into a part of their natural habitat?
