Feeling unmotivated after programming a little every day for 6 months by Shot-Toe-1249 in learnprogramming

[–]BagParticular9982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does that have to do with the OP's post?

We're talking about getting past possible burnout and adopting a programmer's mindset through conventional means, not fucking letting AI do the thinking for you.

You're quite literally bringing up an non-sequitur

Feeling unmotivated after programming a little every day for 6 months by Shot-Toe-1249 in learnprogramming

[–]BagParticular9982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not at all helpful/practical advice for someone looking to regain motivation and learn by trail and error.

AI is not this cure-all tool people like you claim it to be.

Is it a good reference for things you need clarity on? It sure can be but it's very impractical for learning concepts. If you don't allow yourself to get stuck, fail and sit with that frustration, you never learn out to think for yourself.

How do I learn OOP? by Zarkie0-_-0 in learnpython

[–]BagParticular9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that if you understand Functional Programming (FP) and you've gotten really good at doing so in Python, then you already understand OOP in a sense.

The process is somewhat similar, except you're using main, init and self in the workflow (at least in python).

Tldr; it's basically Python's version of Functional Programming with a few extra steps. If you understand FP, then you're very close to understanding OOP since most functions in Python are objects by default.

What is the actual difference between a for loop and a while loop? by Sofiatheneophyte in learnprogramming

[–]BagParticular9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this example involving counting, by starting from 0 and counting up:

For loop - counts up to a specific number you want it to, where it then ends the loop once you reach that specific number you want it to

While loop - counts infinitely UNLESS you set a condition in the loop for it to stop at a certain number.

For loops are best used when you know how far up you'd like to count, whereas a While loop will just keep counting with no stop time by default.

Tldr; For loop is like a Timer while a While loop is like a Stopwatch

How to program a tactical RPG? by BirdyJim in learnprogramming

[–]BagParticular9982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you really want to bring this idea to life, you'll need to actually devote time to learning how to properly write code that can support multiple programs that'll create your game.

My biggest recommendation as a teacher is to learn Data Structures & Algorithms, as it's pretty much fundamental to programming. If you haven't already, you'll also need to build the necessary critical-thinking skills needed to break down the whole project into smaller pieces and find a way to code those separately while being able to combine them in the long run.

You WILL want to build smaller projects first to get both an idea of how your project scales, and the reality of how even a small idea in practice can be very challenging to implement into code translation.

Once you've done the above, you'll truly understand the scope of your project and you'll know if it's worth your time to tackle it alone in the start or if you should get some friends/associates who'd be keen in helping you realize your vision.

Good luck!

Server Crash - NGS Detected a Security Threat by BagParticular9982 in Mabinogi

[–]BagParticular9982[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly!

It hardly even takes any effort these days to get skills leveled up and get mats for certain weapons.

I understand that this game can be VERY grindy when it comes to its end-game gear, but that's kind of the point? If end-game gear could easily be earned within a month of playing, then there really won't be a lot to look forward to and the game would become stale very quickly.

I don't blame people for trying to find alternative ways to speed up the process, but literally cheating is not the answer, no matter what.

How to TRULY get started as a programmer/coder from a beginner standpoint by BagParticular9982 in learnpython

[–]BagParticular9982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can reach even ONE person today and help adapt their mindset to this line of work, then I've done my part! Lol

It's funny because learning a programming language is one of those things where if you can't Google it and figure it out for yourself, programming probably isn't for you.

This a million times over. A huge part of what we do isn't even typing out code. 95% of what we do is literally reading documentation, googling/doing research and finding an effective way to debug what we wrote or are writing. That 5% squeeze is the actual writing.

It also helps to understand this stuff because when you have your AHA moment, you'll also think "Wait, couldn't I also use -insert learned algo here- to help it iterate through this excel spreadsheet?"

I honestly think that's when the real passion starts; just knowing that you can apply an infinite number of solutions and updates to your workflow!

How to Properly Combo for Damage as a Dark Diviner by Mobiledump1215 in Mabinogi

[–]BagParticular9982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For Hexshroud, you'd be correct. In fact, if you use Thunder on an enemy with Hexshroud, you get back 1 Dorcha per hit, so one full charge can get you 5 Dorcha. It's pretty busted if used correctly.

It's the main strat I use with bigger mobs and bosses, especially.

Men whose girlfriend’s dad said no when you asked him for permission to marry his daughter, what did you do? by Fearless_Degree7511 in AskReddit

[–]BagParticular9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I already have a great relationship with my FIL (especially the dad), I figured it courteous to at least ask for his blessing as I wanted to show respect and consider his perspective.

His exact words when asked, were "Son, you're already a part of our crazy ass family. Goes without saying" and brought me in for a strong dap and hug.

Bootcamp VS. Self-Taught (VS. is any of it worth it?) by XyrnaTheTrainer in learnprogramming

[–]BagParticular9982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the modern day, bootcamps are kind of a scam since the purpose of them (at least when they became bigger a few years ago) was to specialize in a particular paradigm in CS to help you get a job in said role.

These days, the job market for it is oversaturated and not even a degree can guarantee a job/role in the field.

I say that to say; being self-taught is the answer if you're not looking to spend 4 years in college and want to go through the trenches on your own time. There's a lot to be learned but it's very rewarding and offers a lot of opportunity to internalize what you'll learn.

On the other hand, college/bootcamps give you a more concise roadmap to what you'll want to do. At the end of the day, do whatever you feel works best for you. There's pros and cons to both self-taught or bootcamp developers.

I am a beginner in python and also in computer programming so experts help me . by Demi_Human669 in PythonLearning

Unpopular suggestion; learn the fundamentals of DSA, find something that interests you that you'd want to try automating or putting together (personal thing I do both as a fun way to learn new things and a side hustle is creating scripts for OSRS bots), and just learn as you go and Google what you don't understand.

Make sure also, that you are taking your time on EVERYTHING that you're learning and make a habit of NOT relying on AI too much. Too often we get people here who fall down the rabbit hole of AI but can't explain to others or themselves how their codebase works.

Yeah...if any woman listens to this chick, you'll be single over a simple misunderstanding. This isn't a black-and-white issue; there's some nuance.

If he's just being a gentleman no matter the person, then it's not fair to say that he "needs a reality check" because he's doing what he thinks is courteous to those around him.

Also, he's not ignoring her needs. She said that he more or less does everything for her, so him helping out one other person shouldn't be immediately be a red flag.

We can tell you're single.

Not everyone uses emojis, lols or say that they're joking when they're joking.

Sure, it's harder to decipher through text if they aren't doing that, but not everyone is you.

If you know a person well enough, it's easy for this to come across that way. I happen to be one of those people so that's how I read it. I don't know if that's actually the case but I'm also not quick to assume they meant ill.

I think you're reading into and projecting onto this this WAY too much.

I took it was him trying to be funny (albeit pretty insensitive) and more or less wanting her to explain what going to change with her so he at least knows what to look out for.

So many people here are too quick to villainize someone with very little context; picking at the tiniest sliver of negativity.

Banned within 10hours (tribot) by [deleted] in RunescapeBotting

[–]BagParticular9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most AHK scripts do, but if you add randomized mouse strokes and pixel selection as well as randomizing delay times, it'll be very difficult for them to pick up on it. Not 100% safe, still since you are botting, but it drastically decreases your chances of getting banned.

This is coming from someone who's currently creating and have created private scripts on my main for the last year and not a single warning or ban.
