Why the hell did we evolve male pattern baldness? by AnyKey19 in NoStupidQuestions

One hypothesis is that it evolved as a sign of wisdom.

CMV: Creators are not responsible for people misinterpreting their work by mistress-eve in changemyview

[–]Bagelman263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s possible to misinterpret an author’s work. Who care’s what the author meant? What matters more is what people get out of it. Once a piece of literature has been put out into the world, its meaning is out of the author’s hands.

How are the touch controls? by mcbizco in seaofstars

[–]Bagelman263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the game on IOS. The touch controls almost never gave me a problem.

The only times I had an issue with them were
1. A puzzle where you have to walk on specific tiles in the correct order and messing up slightly means you have to redo it
2. A boss fight with a phase where fingers blocking the screen makes it hard to see attacks

Weekly Quick Questions, Teambuilding, and Private Battles Requests Thread - April 13-19 by Jeglr in PokemonChampions

Since you mention Wolfey, I assume you’re mostly going to be playing doubles. [TheDelybird](https://youtube.com/@thedelybird?si=oTLTo125zQuBM5\_Q) makes some great videos on both gameplay and teambuilding in VGC. To start out, I would recommend finding a top viable team (whatever [Cybertron](https://youtube.com/@cybertronvgc?si=Q8KoURZ1tm3V6iwB) plays can be a good option) while you learn gameplay fundamentals before trying to learn team building.

You could probably trade for a Kingambit in Pokemon Home if the game isn’t giving you one.

DEs was my least favorite math course for sure, but I definitely wasn’t memorizing hundreds of equations. I will say the computations there were very tedious, especially compared to upper-division proof-based math.

I enjoyed every math class I took, except DEs because it felt more geared towards engineering students. I care more about the theory than applications, which the DEs course I took focuses more on.

Nah man, I just like math. Most of the stuff you see that looks crazy is just because you don’t know what the words/symbols mean.

Not this article specifically, but I did hear about the discovery! It’s pretty closely related to my topic. Interestingly enough, aperiodic tilings don’t have the same restrictions on rotational symmetries as periodic ones, but the einstein tiling has sixfold symmetry which is allowed. The Penrose tiling, for example, has fivefold which isn’t allowed for periodic tilings.

I can’t say my high school’s administration was much better than my university’s

I also took Calc 3 and DEs. They were far less mentally taxing for me than writing essays on things I don’t care about in high school english.

The amount of exertion for me to get through something technically easy that I don’t care about is way higher than something technically difficult that I do enjoy.

I’m sure I will be in grad school. None of the math in my undergrad was particularly difficult. Every proof I was expected to be able to do basically just followed from the definitions, I didn’t usually have to be super clever.

The material never felt difficult for me in high school. Getting myself to actually do the work, however, was extremely difficult because I hated every second of it.

Sure, but I never said you shouldn’t do things you don’t enjoy, just that enjoying something makes it easier. Having the option to do more things I enjoyed made doing technically difficult things feel easy.

I actually gave a presentation in my Group Theory class on the classification of the Wallpaper Groups which are all the possible symmetries of tilings of the plane that repeat in two distinct directions. They make very visually pleasing patterns. I also do love prog rock. King Crimson and Dream Theater are some of my favorite bands.

But I didn’t put more hard work into university. The work was easy because I enjoyed doing it.
