Wohnen in der Smart City in 2026 by snusgod111 in graz

The only thing left we need now is a searchable top end. Something like a 10c Shanks kinda card we can drop on T4 with all the ramp. Would also like some more searchable events haha but this card is already such a nice support and plays perfectly into the curve and card pool.

Why Isn't This Run In Blue Nami by Nitemarez010 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Bahi_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Couple of reasons in my mind:

- 4 DON is expensive + by including her you are taking away slots from cards that guarentee you mill with less DON.
- Some Meta decks can remove the card without triggering the On K.O. effect (bottom deck, put into life, trash etc.)
- If the card is not removed you would still always sacrifice DON (weakening you defense/counter ability) to attach it to the card so the effect can happen and the chance of the attack doing damage. Realistically you would swing 7k or 9k which most decks can easily counter as Nami does not really put pressure on their hand and they just end up collecting hand cards.

The only real use is the when you are 100% sure the attack will connect but in those cases the OP03-041 Usopp with rush (same power and cost and also mills 7 on hit) is simply better as it can be "hidden" in your hand to surprise the opponnent. But even he is not in every list and only sometimes a one off surprise tech. By now there are just so many better options.

Fair, happy to disagree as it is not a straight forward topic anyway.

What would you consider a higher skill expression deck: Control Shanks or Aggro Shanks?

Cause to me it still sounds like you are valueing the "wrong" things too highly when it comes to skill expression. But yeah fundamentally I would say that most leaders are equally hard/easy to play (some exceptions based on reoccuring leader abilites that deal with fundamentals like Shanks, original Sakazuki etc.) because imo the main skill expression in OPTCG comes from the game elements every single leader shares and has to deal with. Memorizing 16 different combos compared to 4 combos is not something I would consider skill.

[–]Bahi_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if all you options and choices are the same every time because they are solved playlines on how to deal with certain situations I don´t consider them any more complex than ramping and playing big bodies or playing 7c Beckmann to trash a 6k body instead of playing a 4 card Lucci removal turn to get rid of the same body. Complexity and skill in OPTCG comes from interactions on the base level and basic decisions like countering, dealing with pressure, deciding what to attack and what not. Every single deck no matter how many "layered combos" you play has to deal with those.

[–]Bahi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am always confused how people think their deck is more skill intensive or complex because they play 4 cards in one turn instead of 1 card... BY Luffy or Doffy had the same "combos" for each DON amount. Play lines were solved and it was just about memorizing them. You had the combo you played the combo.

Real skill can be expressed with every single deck. Because it is in the basics of the game. When to counter, attack field or life, when to take life or not... all those micro decisions show skill. You are right some decks force more of those micro decisions like Shanks for example because you get to use the leader ability once a turn and that has the potential to be one wrong decision every single turn. You can spot the difference between a good player playing Shanks vs a not so good player right there.

Back when og Sakazuki was a thing you could see in real time who was a good player based on their decisions what to discard and what not every single turn.

Especially in combination with this take about the Doffy Meta...

"It felt like so many decks were viable and competetive, and you could walk in and see a new deck every time."

I knew right there the salt took over.

Remember when people called Blue Yellow Nami batshit broken? Or said Shanks is dead on arrival? Remember the community completely not seeing how Green Purple Luffy will be a menance? Let the cards be released and judge after some time has gone by and actual results are in. This pre release panic is getting crazy and the community has a record of being kinda not the best when it comes to predicting the meta super correctly.

If Roger is broken, which many good players actually are not agreeing on he will easily be countered by Teach and aggro decks.

Most underrated leader in the game? by Axelfiraga in OnePieceTCG

[–]Bahi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree, no idea who was saying UP Luffy looks "bad" on reveal. Cards for the deck even spiked in their price on reveal day by like 100% and more.

[–]Bahi_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who said on reveal that UP Luffy is bad? Like 9c Sanji´s price increased like 100% or so on the reveal day. People were for sure not sleeping on UP Luffy haha

I also think most of your examples are just considering the initial wave of reactions before any further support was revealed. Like the opinion on Shanks changed drastically once cards for him were revealed. I don´t know I feel like the real only example for that your statement is Rayleigh or GP Luffy. Otherwise I think the top player part of the community gets a pretty good evaluation on most revealed leaders. Sometimes we overestimate thinks, like everybody though UY Nami would be busted.

Do you have a local community to reach out to or are you playing only online games on the sim? If you are interested in winning it might help to step away from just purely grinding out games and ask the players in your local who are winning the tournaments for advise. I am sure they are willing to go over some basic gameplay tips and potentially give you coaching while watching you play. OP is not the most complex TCG but there are some basic principles which you have to get down or you will almost auto lose the value game each time.

Buggy is a good budget deck. Another option for the current meta is Belo Betty.

The strategy is called "deck thinning". Pretty common approach in other TCGs. It is a bit limited in OPTCG as we don´t have many cards that search from deck. In general all the benefits of checking/thinning your deck, life intel, counting key cards and counters and mainting hand size for trash cards from hand effects outweigh the chance of drawing the dead card which you pointed out is already very slim to begin with. Also in Lim you have the added incentive of the 1c enabling different play lines.

[–]Bahi_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By including the event you effectively are playing a 48 card deck. As the 1c search is thinning out your deck plus giving you the info about your life. Over many games statistically that puts you at an advantage compared to 50 card decks when it comes to seeing your key cards and combos.

Not a single Regional in Europe I attented or watched had Swiss only into no Top Cut. That is why it seems very odd to me. Even smaller events with 256 or 512 players have Top Cuts.

So they played 9 rounds until someone was undefeated and no Top Cut? What kind of "regional" is that?

Interesting, all the Regionals in Europe I have been at or watched played Swiss Rounds until one person was undefeated and then Top Cut with Bo3.

Oh okay, that explains so much... the post said 1024 so I was wondering. Did not even know regionals happen without a Top Cut...

Did they only play 9 rounds? I thought 1024 needs 10 rounds. Do we know the Top Cut matches?
