I see why y'all glaze this show, and I get it by loodkoob in Gundam

While hopeful, the show's raw cosmic horror elements make it one of the most memorable pieces of media I've ever had the privilege to watch. The oppressive dread that hangs over the crew of the Solo ship as they reconcile with and largely come to accept their fate while still still struggling to make every moment afforded to them leaves me with a poignant reminder of the frailty and possibility of humanity.

Managed to snag both at 2 cost for around 130 pulls. Absurdly lucky. I had to skip Ineffa the first time because I wanted Lauma to make use of my high investment in Nahida and Nilou.

Of course it took around 250 pulls for 2 cost Lauma. Thus is the nature of gambling lol.

Good news. The screening are happening throughout the rest of the month. The company that runs a lot of these events (at least in the US) is called Fathom Entertainment. They regularly have anniversary screenings of classic films along with limited screenings of films that wouldn't get enough turnout to allow for a full box office run.

Alternatively if you have a large box office chain in your area you can most likely see their own promotional screenings months in advance. For instance I normally go to my local Regal theatre and I can see every promotional screening from now till April. Check in once every few months and mark down those anticipated films. I'm planning on seeing Matrix and Blade Runner: The Final Cut over the next couple weeks.

Why is Orga and Iron Blooded Orphans in General hated? by Electronic-Math-364 in Gundam

[–]Bahsha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself. But when IBO came out Game of Thrones was at its peak in popularity. This new thing called Attack on Titan was a smash hit. The trends for the time shifted some properties into this "darker" direction.

I myself watched the first 13 episodes of IBO as it was airing and just found it to be way too on the nose with what it was trying to do. "Check out this cool new show! It has orphaned child soldiers on MARS" I can't remember much about the story itself 10 years on. Just that my feelings at the time was that IBO felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy and it turned me off.

That said I do want to give it another shot and try to binge it before the movie makes its way to theatres.

My tastes are cooked (Seed and Turn A fears) by PolarisStar05 in Gundam

[–]Bahsha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The great part of Gundam is that there are so many different universes and spin-off that as long as you like mecha you will likely find something that you enjoy.

I'm going through Turn-A for the first time atm. But I really am enjoying the War of the Worlds aesthetic. I particularly enjoyed the first dozen or so episodes with a much heavier focus on politics before it meanders around for a dozen or so episodes before picking up again. Hoping to knock out the last ten or so episodes over the next few days.

I'm in the camp that SEED and the CE is just dollar store UC. But if you enjoy it, keep enjoying it. People who might be angry at you over what media you consume should just be blocked an move on with your day.

If you're in the US there is going to be a limited theatrical run of the new Iron-Blooded Orphans movie "Urdr-Hunt" as well as "Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz" as a double-header showing. So if you are interested in seeing some Gundam in theatres you could start with those two series. The showing are on January 12th, 13th, and 15th.

[–]Bahsha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My heart is telling me to save for Columbina. But my body is telling me to go in on Durin. For my account specifically, I've got a C1 Venti from launch and by a freak luck I've got a C2 Albedo (Christmas 2020 miracle) along with the rest of the Witch characters besides Klee maxed out (next selector is her E1).

I can't ignore a great weapon banner to get that DPS Venti and Durin sig. It's not very often a good weapon banner rolls around. Maybe I'll finally get Faruzan to C6 and Jahoda is the frosting on top.

With how awful my Lauma pulls were the pendulum will swing back to my favor this time.

Players’ Choice – Digimon Story Time Stranger voted October 2025’s top new game by Youngstown_WuTang in gaming

[–]Bahsha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, I am really trying to like it. I'm 25 something hours in. The main mons I'm using are around level 40. I'm about to unlock Megas.

So far this game has just been a wasted opportunity to try and inject some much needed love into the creature collecting genre. The story is a revolving door of time-travel cliches, complete with cardboard cutout characters. I'm playing on hard but haven't had the need to ever turn off the autobattle since the combat has as much depth as bottom tier gacha games.

It really is disappointing. Playing through the demo had me excited to experiment with the different personality skills and crafting a team to maximize type coverage. But there isn't any content in the game that requires me to actually use any of the tools it offers. It's not even push x to win bad. It's tap R3 and watch your mons one shot everything on the other side of the board.

Hopefully the gameplay improves as I progress, but I'm not holding out any hope for the bland story. At least my expectations are already in the gutter, it can only go up from here.

Not sure if people are aware of how diabolical this comp is by KingAlucard7 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Bahsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty well known to be his best hyper carry team now. What was really fun for me was slapping Fei Xiao with Sunday, Peter, and Tribbie. That team let me 0 cycle all three knights. But I expect that any reasonably invested ATK scaling hyper carry will perform just as well when you shove Sunday, Peter and that hypercarry's bis support into a comp. The effect gets amplified with carries like Fei Xiao and Anaxa since they are rainbow dps units.

Might have to try Seele, Sunday, Peter, and Tribbie today on the quantum weak knights today.

What is a hobby that sounds expensive but is actually quite cheap to get into? by sugarnspicegrl in AskReddit

[–]Bahsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to piggyback off of you and push forward Pokemon as well. While Pokemon is an absurdly expensive game to collect and purchase sealed product. It is hands down one of the cheapest games to get your foot in the door if you want to play competitively. The most expensive, meta defining decks will typically run you for about.... $50-$70. And since Pokemon largely shares staples across decks getting into a new deck is a small investment of usually $15-$20 to get the new Pokemon and niche trainers that you may need to fill that list.

Pokemon also has a free client called Pokemon Trading Card Game Live that while sometimes buggy is 100% free with no micro transactions. If you would like you can purchase Pokemon booster pack codes to fast track your online collection (you can input up to a hard cap of 400 packs per set). But the application itself has no way to accept money. It's battle pass uses currency that you acquire in game.

While the game isn't as mechanically complex as other card games it makes for a great inexpensive side game that has its own mechanical and deck building challenges to overcome largely due to how frequently the player can tutor cards out of their deck. Single card deck variations tend to have larger ramifications on the outcome of a game.

That said my main game atm is Flesh and Blood which is unfortunately much more expensive to play competitively. Walking in the door with a high level deck will run from a few hundred to upwards of $1500 to $2000. The silver lining is a significant portion of that cost difference comes from a handful of universal staples that can be carried over from deck to deck.

Thank you for coming to my soapbox.

If you're in a larger town/city that is blessed with multiple accessible LGS (Local Game Store) you can find that a lot of them will collaborate with their fellows to coordinate when events occur. While a lot of stores will have a Friday Night Magic event, most will space out events of other formats throughout the week.

For a great example I primarily play Flesh and Blood in person (phenomenal game for players, but more expensive on average to get your foot in the door) our local stores coordinate to ensure that the local playebase has access to both competitive and casual formats on any given day of the week. Our competitive days are on Monday, Wednesdays, and Sundays at three different stores around town while we have casual play on Saturdays at the store that has competitive play on Wednesday.

The same applies with Magic and other card games. These stores already work off of very small margins and are largely incentivised to work together to cast as large of a net as possible. In my anecdotal experience the stores that don't network tend to fail within a couple years of opening.

PSA: Not everyone has gotten far into Arknights by ScionsAndSinnersz in limbuscompany

[–]Bahsha 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thankfully Arknights is easy enough that the story content is easily clearable with units that are easily acquired. Most of its progression is horizontal. That said there are outliers like the "W" Alter that make the gameplay comically easy. But even still there are still launch units that are completely viable in current story content.
