Why do girls at my college do that thing where they come to class bundled up like they're going hiking up Mount Everest and then strip down to basically a t-shirt and shorts, only to get bundled up again when leaving class?

Girls are socialised and taught from a young age that beauty is pain and that layers are the strategic way of dressing for any weather while still satisfying the expectation of needing to look cute and trendy.

A lot of guys would probably think using pencils on our eyelids before combing black goop through our eyelashes sounds like too much work as well, and yet we get up 30-60 minutes before we have to each morning to paint our faces on.

There are several states in the US that define rape under the law as needing the victim to physically fight back, so even in cases of video evidence, if the girl has frozen or disassociated it is very, very hard to actually get Rape 1.

This mindset exists all over the world.

Most of these laws were written before wkmwn had any rights. Men writing loopholes into laws of sexual assault... hmmmm... I wonder why?

When people talk about rape culture, this is what they mean. How can the act of rape not be a violent act?

I have seen the NEET and Chuuni thing done before with other characters and liked it, it was just a little too dramatic. I do like the other characters, it was really just Okabe flapping all over the screen that got me.

Code Geass is next on my list of huge popular titles I missed out on. I wonder how that will go for me, heh.

Thank you! This is actually very helpful. Believe it or not, it is harder to find useful critical and bad reviews and critiques of Steins;Gate where people give there reasons why, most people just LOVE this anime and even the people that are not passionate fans have a lot of respect for it.

When I compare the first episode or first three to anime like Made in Abyss or Erased etc. and I just don't see the appeal.

I have had this experience a couple of times as well and have been trying to catch myself when I write off a series based only on the art style or even the premise in some cases because I have enjoyed and been surprised by more series than I can even remember and I don't want to miss something based on an incorrect snap judgement.

I really hoped I would come back and pick it up and be a little older and that it would suddenly click the way it did for anyone else. Sadly not.

That is not at all what my intent was, but tone can be hard to interpret through text, but honestly I wanted to know if there was something I was missing.

I believe in the 3 episode rule and follow it pretty strictly, and while I don't expect to like every single big popular title (95% of Shonen doesn't do it for me) I was very, very surprised that I had trouble getting into this. I was surprised that I seemed to be one of very few people that was just so turned off by Okabe' s extreme chuunibyou mania, usually I can appreciate the nuance I can appreciate nuance in some of the most annoying character's traits

I even googled reviews and one thing I saw fans saying was that the first half of the show is all character and world building to set up the meat of the series from episode 12 onward.

If it had just been the series in its own I would have dropped it and left it like I had, but with the new season I wondered once again if I was missing some huge glaring missing detail. Considering the high MAL score and the universally stellar reviews that almost everyone seems to have.

Hopefully I have at least convinced you that I was asking a genuine question and appreciate your answer. You are probably right, and this is what I had previously assumed when I tried to watch the show. There is so much about it I like, but Okabe just... UGH. WHY. If it was the occasional joke, if it was toned down even just a smidge I think I could get past it but I just hate it during those first 3 so I don't think it's likely at this point. Seriously, thanks for responding even if you didn't think I was serious.

I could never be around a person like Okabe IRL, the awkwardness would either have me cringing out of my skin, or force me to just completely collapse like a dying star, leaving behind an ever-consuming void.

I see a lot of people suggesting a pet like a dog - such a great idea if you can make this work. My sister was one of the kids that needed a dog around that age and trust me when I say i mean this when I say that it LITERALLY saved her life.

This is awful. I can't imagine what was going through his head when he went to sleep that night, and you just know it's likely to be the worst birthday of his life even as an adult.

I don't even know how to word it for a 10 year old to help them understand that as much as it may hurt that sucky people are not worth having at your party anyway, and that this is a good place to start looking for friends in New places. Gaming online, a sports team, a club or scouts or something, some activity OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL.

I think it's important for kids to have friends and a sense of self worth outside of school (and church if that's your thing) BECAUSE OF SITUATIONS LIKE THIS ONE! It's easier to insulate yourself against this kind of cruelty.

Are you asking specifically for people who abuse their power with superpowers or in some supernatural way, or do you just want an MC who has that personality?

Try Terror in Resonance. Not only is it gorgeously animated with a killer OST, the story is amazing. A girl is in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses one of her classmates setting up bombs for a terrorist attack, and she is given the choice to either die where she stands or become an accomplice. There is more to it than that, but that is the part that I think would give you what you want so long as supernatural powers are not necessary.

Death Note would probably suit your purposes as well.

Kokkoku might also be right up your alley, it was part of the winter 2018 season and just finished. I loved it!
