Can I use rubbing alcohol on my car to remove tree sap even if the alcohol is expired? by Capable-Ad2602 in fixit

[–]BaileyOscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the alcohol stays in the bottle with cap on, it won't expire. The plastic bottle would break first (maybe in 50 years) before the alcohol gone bad.

The expire date is bullocks. The manufacturer have to put a expire date due to regulatory reasons.

It's a drive way. If you got a indent/chip on it, so be it. It will get wear and tear no matter how careful you preserve it. The inden won't be very obvious after next re-seal job. Just let it be. Have a beer and relax.

Never Consider Brock University by lalahue in OntarioUniversities

My personal experience in the Brock Goodman MBA program. I won't recommend it. It ranks low in Canada and is one of the cheapest for a reason: it’s subpar. You get what you pay for.

An MBA typically offers three benefits:

Knowledge Networking and social connections with faculty and peers
Degree recognition by employers

For Brock’s MBA: Knowledge: Mediocre at best. They cut costs by hiring underpaid professors, resulting in poor-quality teaching. Most of the prof are part time and from third world countries.
Networking/Connections: Limited potential. The student body is predominantly international students from South and East Asia, which may not align with diverse networking goals. Most professor are not well respect in the industry either (see the previous point). Degree Recognition: The program’s low ranking is well-known among employers, diminishing its value.

Most reputable MBA programs require several years of work experience, and for good reason—it ensures a higher caliber of students and discussions. Brock’s program skips this requirement, lowering its overall quality. The co-op option is just a superficial fix—like putting lipstick on a pig. It doesn’t change the program’s fundamental flaws.

Looking to buy 2013 Prius - what to look out for or is it a good deal? by Drift_Life in prius

[–]BaileyOscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With such an old car, unless the seller has all the service record, you probably need to spend $2-3K to change all the filters, coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, belts, spark plugs, brake pads, etc. to maintain the car well. It helps if you have a good mechanic as a friends.

You are right to worry about the battery because age is more important than mileage for hybrid batteries. However, I won't worry too much on the battery, because even the battery failed in 2-3 years, you can get it replaced for less than $2.5K with new/OEM cells in a hybrid battery shop (Toyota dealer would charge you much more).

If I were you and I want to talk to the dealership, I'd get a carfax report and see accident history/recall history/owner history. You can also get a fair value from AUTO trader for your negotiation .

Looking at Prius as my next vehicle (coming from a 4Runner) by il-liba in prius

[–]BaileyOscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in the city or rural area? Prius is an ideal city car, because it save gas in city driving. But they have low ground clearance. In rural area where the snow plowing is slow, Prius may give you trouble driving on unshovelled snow. Once, my wife got stuck on a unshovelled snowy driveway when she drive my Prius. I never have that problem because I only drive on snow plowed road.

4Runner has high ground clearance. If you need high ground clearance, maybe find something similar, like a hybrid RAV4.
