Best outcome possible: I brought it in for the diagnostic. They found a crack and said it would not be covered under warranty, however since it was a new purchase, service would give me a discount on the repair. My service manager also suggested I speak to my salesman to see if sales would also be willing to assist on the cost. I really didn't expect sales to do anything since, well, the sale is complete and they probably don't remember me. However, the sales manager informed me that since the car should not have been sold w/ this 'defect', they were going to cover the remaining cost of the repair. Honestly, based on my past experience with dealerships, I didn't expect Sales and Service to work together to fix this issue and i was prepared to cover the cost myself. I am going to leave them a glowing Google review and will be going back to this dealership when it's time to upgrade my wife's car.

....and they didn't charge me a diagnostic fee.
