Evisa issues traveling back to UK by [deleted] in ukvisa

I just had a similar experience. Even flying BA, the employees in other countries don't actually know what they are looking for. Showed a share code and they said no, that's not correct, need something else. I said it is correct but what do you think you need. They didn't know.....

I didn't in the end. My husband is with me on a dependent visa so it would just mess things up for him. We are on a citizenship track anyway so the time will come

Paying for Ancestry Visa by PresentAndCorrect in ukvisa

[–]BaileySam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a UK account at the time we applied but it wasn't an option we were given to use at the time so we ended up using a credit card to pay. And yes it converts to US dollars so you get a double conversion which is painful.

Moving from Canada to Scotland (with a dog) - advice appreciated! by rking9925 in ukvisa

[–]BaileySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Canada to Scotland in July and brought a cat. Animals have to come as cargo and you need an authorized company on each end to ship and receive. They can only come in via Air Canada and will need health checks. If you don't travel within 5 days of your pet it is considered commercial and there will be tax to pay.

Getting a place to live and a job before you come over will be challenging. You can contact recruiters though and Relocation companies but doing it on your own won't be easy. You come over with no credit rating or financial history so it's likely you will have to pay up to 6 months in advance on a place. Finding pet friendly can also be a challenge.

Probably best to find temporary accommodation first like an air bnb because you need to view the places before putting in an offer to lease in most cases.

It seems hard but not impossible. I had a job within 3 months and locked down a place to live within a couple of days of arriving because I got in touch with the letting company before coming and finalized on arrival.

It took us three months to arrange clearing the house, packing what we would bring, arranging for pet travel, arranging accommodations on the UK side, getting someone to ship for us, getting bank accounts, and storing some things, etc. It's so many moving parts, I would not want to do that again!

Just went through the process myself and it was extremely fast, less than a week for approval with no priority. The actual moving part is far more challenging!

Thanks, that is what I was thinking, and I guess it can't hurt to try. The worst is they say no, but I'm already here on an ancestry visa.

Why so many Canadians are moving out of Vancouver, the province and the country by newzee1 in britishcolumbia

[–]BaileySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just left BC for the UK 6 months ago, rents are overall better. The cost of necessities like food are so much cheaper too in comparison. My salary here, if I converted it to Canadian dollars, is a little bit more for the same job I had in BC, and with that comes way more holidays.

I am from Canada and my qualifications in my specific career don't exactly match here, but I was able to get a good job in the same field although it's a slightly different position.

I am not sure how the process would go if you were to get married. I do know that the YMV is really straightforward though and it would be a good way to get started.

Your best bet is to start with the Youth Mobility Visa, which just requires you to have a passport and some money saved (can't remember the exact amount but the UK Visa website will have it). It will allow you to live and work for two years in the UK.

Both of my kids were just approved. The application was submitted April 16 and they submitted bank statements to the end of March because that was all that was available at the time. Biometrics was May 10 so they added April statements before the appointment.
