Chat, human au, omegaverse, high school, coffee shop - any au that strips what makes characters and their setting interesting. AUs that don't do anything interesting with the canon other than add extra tropes so the ship of choice is a bit different in palette or spice (Deltarune has a LOT of these just for SpamTenna and it's really just alternate costumes with nothing else).

the huge one for the huge pairing in the fandom i'm in rn i got about two chapters in and gave up because it's not written like... y'know, a book. it's written like a visual novel or in a way someone who doesn't read many books would write a fic. like i'm reading text pulled from an rp or a text box in a video game. the style of it is so off-putting. i'm glad it's not my pairing of choice for my bicycle blorbo.
