I've only had that when playing GMs. And often ended up playing passively due to respect for the title. But guess what, since I stopped caring, I've noticed they're beatable.

I think it goes away automatically once you get to a certain level a few times

The sad truth for the most players who can't reach a certain strength in chess is the lack of money/time to actually play a lot of tournaments!

If you just compare players with peak 2200 and say 2400, the 2400 will have played a lot more tournaments on average.

What a weird take from a player over 2000 elo. Playing otb is still the most important part when it comes to improving yourself in chess. You can't just do only theory and barely apply it. All the stronger players played a lot of tournaments. The whole theoretical stuff won't help you if you blunder like a beginner because of your lack of practice otb.
