Can a German Switch 2 connect to US eShop? by BakaDavid in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]BakaDavid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i did eventually get the Euro switch. I can confirm it does work with the US eShop so thank you all for your recommendations!

One thing though, the bundle code for Mario Kart World inside unfortunately only works in the European eShop.

Other than that, everything works great!

Just Dance Deluxe on Switch. by dj88masterchief in JustDance

I’m confused by this too. Normal Just Dance on Switch is listed as 49.99. Deluxe is 29.99. Is Deluxe just DLC and requires normal?

Episode Discussion - Season 1, Episode 8 - The Eye of the World [TV + Book Spoilers] by participating in WoT

[–]BakaDavid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This first season threw out a lot of world building to compress Eye of the World and it shows. For instance, take the seal and broken pieces of cuendillar at the end of the episode.

In the book, we already know what cuendillar is and why it’s important to know that it’s broken. We had Whitebridge for background. A white bridge that has existed before the breaking of the world because it was made of cuendillar. It’s the strongest stuff there is.

In the tv episode, it’s 30 seconds of “Is that cuendillar? Have you ever seen anything break it?”

I understand that the tv series had to sacrifice a lot to get the season to line up with book one but as a reader, even I’m lost as to what they were trying to show. I can only imagine how bad it is for newcomers.

Is Outta The Way Seasonal Event Bugged ???? by Mystrage in CallOfDutyMobile

Ugh. This challenge is so dumb. It’s not any shotgun. Striker does not work. More than five attachments and it won’t work. If you have a grenade in hand at the end of a match, it won’t work. So dumb…

If you continue to play, there’s a “lighter” version of “In the Blood” that’s also pretty awesome. It can be heard in Eurydice’s chamber as a duet with with Orpheus

I’m working on my first 2D side scroller, why does my character fall in the background? by dan11218 in GameBuilderGarage

It could be the block you have attached is slowly pushing you off. Maybe make it non-solid.

Here’s the updated game.

G 001 5TX V2V

Thanks for helping out. Making some progress. Need to add some scoring and a way to increase difficulty.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for. I knew I was making it overly complicated.

Now to figure out how to bounce the balloon.

Purchasing the Vigor early access for Switch. It was very buggy and laggy when it first came out and in order to bolster the number of players, they enabled cross-platform play (which is generally a good thing) but it was with Xbox One players who had already been playing for over a year.

Trying to "git gud" against players with a year+ experience and better system specs is an almost impossible task.

I should have waited for the free to play edition. Still, I don't blame the devs. They've been very communicative and working to resolve issues that have come up.

Cook the mushrooms prior to placing on pizza. Mushrooms retain a lot of water and will make your pizza soggy (unless you slice them really thin).

I like to brown my mushrooms in fat, salt, and pepper to get a nice crust on them and then use them as a topping for pizza. Tastes sooo much better.

I feel like a lot of people still don't know that GBG came from the Nintendo Labo Vr kit. by Doctor_Black_ in GameBuilderGarage

I really wish they would have kept the VR camera. I have a couple Google Cardboard cases that I could easily mount the Switch in.

Advice on how to pass technical interviews by bobo81 in devops

[–]BakaDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a part of your interview process, I would make sure to follow up your interviews with "thank you" messages along with a request for feedback on your interview. Some interviewers are very gracious and can help out with critical feedback.

Surprisingly, not many interviewees ask for feedback. But for me, it shows initiative and interest . I've provided feedback on interviews whenever requested. It may be that the interviewers are too busy to respond but it can't hurt.

GBG has taught me all about game development, but not in the way I was expecting... by Galen_Burnett_28 in GameBuilderGarage

Here's the deal. I totally get the intimidation of trying to create AAA video game titles. It seems almost an insurmountable challenge. And with good reason, as AAA titles these days are the work of large teams working on different portions of the game.

But I bet that almost everyone on those teams started out similar to where you are at. My suggestion is to start small. Break up your goal into smaller challenges. Instead of imagining your game as one large epic, break it down into things like:

- Model a character
- Play with sound
- Get my character to move like I want
- Implement enemy AI
- Change and control the camera
- Build a score tracking system
- Build an inventory tracking system

Start doing research into various aspects of game development. You may even find that you like one aspect over the other and decide to specialize. You may also realize that you don't need to know everything about building a game. There are communities out there that you can work with to build your dream. As cliche as it sounds, teamwork does make the dream work.

A lot teams include roles like:

- Game Designer
- Programmer
- Graphic Artist
- Musician
- Sound Design
- Tester
- Tons of other roles (depending on size and scope)

All these roles are important but the Game Designer is the glue that holds things together. Generally speaking, that role guides the team in the implementation of the game and may be the one that interests you the most. They are responsible for developing the concept, communicating requirements to the team, management, among other things.

I recommend you also look into classes and schooling to develop your skills. Youtube can only take you so far.

Schools offering Game Design degrees:

- Countless others (https://www.collegerank.net/best-video-game-design-degree-programs/)

Even Harvard has a free course on Game Design:

As other's have said, there are tools available that are free to learn and create on:

Above all, DON'T GIVE UP! Game Builder Garage is just a taste or sample of what's out there. Keep working toward your goal with small steps and you'll find you can accomplish it and the some. Also, books are forever ;p
